Xavier Team Camp was a two day event where some of the top talent from southwest Ohio and beyond competed inside the Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University. In this article I'll break down my five guard standouts from Ohio on Saturday.

One of the most athletic guards in Ohio, Dawson is a Miami (OH) football commit but one of the most dangerous players in transition on the hardwood in southwest Ohio. With an excellent motor that runs non-stop, Dawson can turn defense into offense quickly with his athleticism. One of the highlights of the day came when Dawson had a sweet crossover that led to a slam dunk. With the athleticism and defensive talent Winton Woods has, they have the ability to run a lot of teams out the gym this season.

A new addition for Winton Woods this season, I was really impressed with Bronson's ability to score the basketball against one of the top teams from Michigan. I saw big time stats from Bronson as a Junior but now he's playing against top competition and still scoring the basketball at a high level. The lefty guard has a quick first step and can either get to the bucket off the dribble or stop on a dime and pull-up. I think Bronson could be a big time stock riser this season under a brighter microscope playing for Winton Woods.

Gray was gone when I saw Wyoming at Ohio Dominican's Team Camp and his presence was felt early as his relentless slashing ability was on full display. Gray goes hard to the basket off the dribble and has a wider frame that allows him to take contact and finish when he plays off two feet. I also like how Gray wants to push the tempo and get easy buckets when they are available, either as a dribble driver or an outlet passer. With his production, ball handling ability and consistent rim pressure, Gray is one of the better guards in the Cincinnati area and should be a top target for small college programs.

Toledo Central Catholic looked impressive as their guard talent is plentiful even without Dre Wardop on Friday. Kynard was getting busy on the perimeter with some tough buckets created for himself off the bounce. Kynard can also space the floor off the catch as he knocked down a few 3-pointers with his feet set on the perimeter. One of the biggest things I notice when Kynard has the ball in his hands is he doesn't lack confidence at all and thinks every shot he takes is going in. When you play the schedule Toledo Central Catholic does, you can't be afraid of anybody across the lines from you and Kynard can get hot and give his team a chance on any given night.

I think Saturday's game against Louisville St Xavier was the best game I've ever seen Curry play. One of the most athletic players in Ohio, Curry had multiple slam dunks that got the crowd going crazy in what was a great environment for a summer basketball game. I've also noticed improved perimeter shooting from Curry with a trail 3-pointer and an and-1 fallaway jumper in this game as well. If Curry continues to play with this amount of energy on the offensive end of the court and uses his physical tools defensively, he'll be a stock riser this season as Lakota West appears to be one of the top teams in Ohio.
