Before we get into the thick of things of what happened at the Warwick Workout ELITE Camp, let's talk about the top guys from the camp. There was a clear single tier of 3 prospects at the top, then a drop off.

The Big 3 of 6'9” 2026 Wing [player_tooltip player_id='1467166' first='Blake' last='Ellwein'], 6'9” 2028 Big [player_tooltip player_id='2442383' first='Ryan' last='Dieleman'] of Sioux Falls Christian and [program_tooltip program_id='2228190' first='TEAM' last='Warwick'], and also 6'8” 2028 Wing/4 Sully Felberg of Clark/Willow Lake and [program_tooltip program_id='2228190' first='TEAM' last='Warwick'].

There's a lot more to them being highly-ranked because of their height and length. Ellwein will get a brief entrance because we know what he is at this point as an upcoming Senior, but I'm going to go into much more detail and a little more insight into my thoughts on Ryan and Sully than I normally give. This could be hinted and targeted towards the D1 college coach audience. A curveball beyond who looked good and played well.

Ellwein wasn't at the ELITE camp to get recruited or land a scholarship. He's got the scholarship offers that he's happy with. He's just a kid that likes to play and the ball bounces year-round at the Ellwein household. Ellwein kept the game-speed muscle memory flowing and knocked down jumpers and handled the ball with ease at 6'9”. Not much to report here on Blake. He'll be at the MBCA Showcase tomorrow where it's “game-time” and the light needs to be turned back on.

I've probably known Ryan the player for around three years. I also think I have a decent judegement on his personality. One of my few gifts that were given to me, is to be able to figure out a person very quickly and what they're all about. No negatives to report with Ryan on this, just wanted to make assessment.

Physically-speaking, Ryan hit a small growth spurt and is up to 6'9”. He's slowly getting taller and his playing strength and coordination are lightyears ahead of where it was a couple years ago. He's playing like he wants it, and you can tell he wants to keep going and land with a good D1 program. His mindset is starting to become more clear and I think he has a direction set forth with his inner self.

I think Ryan is my #1 2028 prospect at this time, and a lot of that has to do with his shift in his approach to basketball and what he wants to accomplish with it. Without naming specific schools, I think schools a step below high major and slightly above mid-major (wherever that lands) should pursue Ryan. I think 6'11” is where he could ultimately finish and 6'10” is also a possibility.

He was clearly very young when I first saw him play and interacted with him, but he didn't have his basketball future and his vision with it quite established at that age. I'm not sure many kids that age do. Most kids need to learn life stuff first and how to act and interact with people. When that started heading in the right direction for Ryan, I think he realized he's got an opportunity for himself. Being a 6'8” 8th grader/Freshman at the time, definitely enters the equation when deciding what to do with the game of basketball. So Ryan began working on his development. It was a slow process but his body is changing quicker now, he's leaning out, and the soft muscle has developed a leaner look.

When it comes to Ryan at the Warwick ELITE Camp, he was a new type of beast. He wasn't there to joke with the boys and simply be around friends. he was there to work and improve. Even before the college coaches made it into town and checked the rosters.

He showed power and strength that I hadn't seen from him. He was taking it directly at contact and was set on getting the angle at the hoop he wanted, disregarding his opponent trying to take him off his path. Some classic bully-ball, that if it continues and he keeps growing, he will have a dominant All-State season at Sioux Falls Christian with 6'10” Goodbary settling in at Drake University.

To sum up everything in a keyword phrase, whatever type of projection or what you think of [player_tooltip player_id='2442383' first='Ryan' last='Dieleman']'s potential, take what you think, then increase that a couple steps up the ladder.

I was the same way when I was playing, I could be wrong, but I think Sully is strictly a 5-on-5 guy and that's when he's at his flow and plays his best. He looks like a different player and is a big threat when the 5-on-5 action is flowing.

People in the basketball World often refer to them as “gamers”. They're the players that when legitimate meaningful competition starts, that's when they show their true colors and can set themselves apart. Not to take anything away from the “drill-guy” that excels at ball-handling drills and that can make eight open threes when he gets a direct pass to his shooting pocket from a passer that is making his shooting environment as perfect as possible.

But give me the guy that makes plays and is a difference-maker when they start keeping score. When it's tip-off in a high school rivalry playoff game, and they're not afraid to take the first shot of the game, hoping to get into an early rhythm.

Felberg is everything I just mentioned above. If you're an outsider that doesn't understand or know his game and overall profile, and you saw him on Day 1 in the non-5-on-5 setting, you would be scratching your head as to why he's the #1-#2 ranked prospect in the 2028 class. You maybe would have perception of him just being a tall kid that will be just…ok.

Skip ahead to Day 2 of the Warwick Workouts ELITE Camp, while college coaches start rolling in and the chatter that 5-on-5 is approaching. Once that ball is tipped and the ball gets moved around and he gets to touch it a couple times, that's when you start to see the top-ranked prospect, Sully Felberg.

He gets going on defense and gets deflections, steals, rebounds the ball, then what makes him so valuable as a prospect is that he can get in a nice rhythm shooting the ball from range at 6'8”. He's not shy on continuing to launch if they're dropping. Some have the mindset that they've taken too many shots in a row—even if they're going in—that they should pass it around for passing it around sakes. I'm not sure that creeps into Sully's mind very often. He'll keep pilling it on his opponent, without a subconscious thought.

Sully is at the MBCA Showcase tomorrow, and he's one I want to see play well. More update to come on how Sully performs against the best from South Dakota, North Dakota, and Minnesota. I'm interested to see how he handles a 2026 Minnesota prospect with length, quickness, and a pressure mentality on the perimeter.
