Underclassmen Guards Coaches Have Eyes On

The work on your game doesn't stop in the summer if you want to be great. That's something the group of student athletes below take to heart and a prime reason why they've already started to turn heads.    Gavin is a smart, tenacious combo guard with excellent vision on the fast break and impressive versatility on both ends of the floor. He's a fantastic decision-maker when leading the charge for his squad and quickly scans multiple options before he decides what the best next move may be. He has a great pull-up jumper and the speed and handle to blow by his defender if they decide to play him too closely. He's incredibly vocal on both sides of the ball and seems to always be in the right place for making impact plays. He's a sharpshooter with range that extends well beyond the arc and I particularly enjoy his one-handed passes off the dribble, which he utilizes frequently with nice accuracy and precision.     David is a skilled, versatile combo guard with a solid frame and the ability to conquer his opponents in multiple ways. He can score in the paint with regularity and extends the floor nicely with his three-point shooting ability. He's a heads up player on the fast break and knows how to make quick, precise passes to put his streakers in the perfect position for an easy bucket. His size gives him the ability to work in the key offensively more than most other guards and he can often impose his will on defense with his pure physicality. He has excellent vision and anticipation on both sides of the floor and he's constantly in the mix when it comes to making big plays for his team.     Isaiah is a shifty, talented two-way combo guard that can affect the game tremendously for his squad on both ends. He's a great finisher at the basket and makes impressive heads-up passes on the break that result in guaranteed points for his teammates. I love how intense he is on defense - constantly crowding his opponent and making them uncomfortable. He has quick hands and is skilled at poking the ball out of his opponent's hands without fouling and then beating them to it for an easy steal and bucket on the other end. He's got a nice jumper, but he doesn't rely on it unnecessarily - his aggression on offense is refreshing and he drives to the paint with elite ballhandling more times than not. Robinson is turning more and more heads and the attention is well deserved.     Michael is a fast, physical combo guard that isn't afraid of contact and the ability to sink shots all over the floor with impressive range. He uses his body to create space on the drive and he has an excellent handle to get himself into the best positions offensively. He can get hot in a hurry beyond the arc and he has a mean crossover that challenges even the sturdiest ankles. He has a high arc on his shot which allows him to get his attempts up and over longer defenders without sacrificing any accuracy. He stays ready defensively - reading passing lanes, racking up steals, and creating general chaos for his opposition. He uses his body well while airborne to position himself where he can use the glass effectively with virtually no possibility of getting rejected.     Anthony is a speedy, sharpshooting combo guard that can beat his opponents in several ways on both ends of the floor. He has incredible range and can get hot from beyond the arc in a hurry. He's not purely a shooter, though. His elite ballhandling skills and ability to read defenses opens up plenty of opportunities for him on the drive. He moves intelligently without the ball and knows how to get to the exact spots on the floor where he's most comfortable. He uses the glass well on his drives and he's a great decision-maker, often passing up a potential shot for a wide open attempt he quickly identifies for a teammate. He cleans the glass on both ends and isn't afraid to do the dirty work while racking up buckets.
