Last weekend, many varsity teams around the Greater Houston area used the annual UH Team Camp as a pre-TABC proving ground. Many of these squads had new player transfer additions to their varsity programs and some of these were key difference makers in close games. Let's examine the games of a few players who stood out during Saturday on the campus of the University of Houston.

Brody Thorton was a huge, dominating presence on both ends of the floor in one of his first games in a George Ranch uniform. Thorton recently transferred from Fort Bend Bush this past year and is already making waves. He had such a complete performance against Summer Creek on Saturday morning, scoring in the paint at will and grabbing down tough rebounds. Brody also showed ability to handle the ball well when needed on the perimeter and operate an effective pick and roll. Thornton is big-time when it comes to proving himself in the clutch and is a reliable source of efficient scoring.

[player_tooltip player_id='1778906' first='Adam' last='Boyd'] was a high-level scorer in Atascocita's close loss to Blue Chips on Saturday and shot the ball well from all 3 areas of the court. He was a quick decision maker with the ball in his hands helping as a playmaker for the Eagles and he is good in isolation situations as well. The main part of Adam's game that has always stood out to me is his perimeter defense and the way he consistently pressures opposing ballhandlers into giving up steals and key stops. Adam has been a prospect with huge upside and rising momentum since the beginning of last year and he only continues to trend upward.

Brodrick was one of the most impressive two-dimensional wings I was able to watch at the UH camp on Saturday. He was able to bully his way to the paint through tough interior defense and draw contact, cashing in at the free throw line often. Wyatt had several good back to the basket fadeaways in the midrange and knew when to pass and when to shoot, having a good eye for where his teammates were on the floor. Overall, nothing about Brodrick's game was flawed and he was probably a top 3 complete player overall at the camp. I will definitely be tuned in to his game for this upcoming season.

Joseph was a tenacious rebounder on both sides of the ball during Grand Oaks' afternoon game. Ebube always knew how to box out his opponents well to where he could rise above everyone on the court and get the board, either putting the ball back up for an easy two points or making a quick fastbreak outlet pass to a teammate down court. I really liked Joseph's motor as he constantly worked hard every time the rock was in his hands, or his team relied on him for an interior defensive stand. If he continues playing at the level I saw him last weekend, he will be one of the more underrated 2027 players in Greater Houston.

Kevin could not be stopped from deep range in Crawford's win on Saturday during the afternoon. Green has a quick and shifty guard game that he uses to beat defenders off the dribble, freeing himself up for quick perimeter jumpers and drives to the rim that he can finish with a floater or layup off the glass. He consistently hit big isolation three pointers over tough, physical defense when his team needed a bucket and was the go-to-scorer for most of this contest. Green also was a good playmaker and was able to operate effectively as the guard in the pick and roll, but he also had great IQ when scanning the floor for where to move the ball next.
