SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — Last weekend was an opportunity for various Southern California high school programs to earn a coveted spot in the Arizona-based Section 7 Team Camp with a play-in tournament held at various high schools across the region. We were in attendance for bracket games and showcase games and came away with a strong list of prospects who are now on the radar.

[player_tooltip player_id='2815162' first='Carson' last='Butler'] | 2027 | Eastvale Roosevelt

Butler spent some valuable time on the junior varsity level last season at Roosevelt where it's clear the reps he got on that level will benefit him in his long-term development. The 6-foot-8 forward will play a major role for the Mustangs this season and his combination of size and athleticism make him an impactful paint scorer and he even showed some confidence taking and making three-point shots off the catch.

Carter Brown | 2028 | Corona Centennial

Brown spent his freshman season at Centennial on the junior varsity level but he looks to be a prospect who could carve out a varsity role this season. The 6-foot-7 wing/forward is a fluid athlete with a vast wingspan and an intriguing offensive skill-set that includes the ability to stretch the floor to the three-point line and the ball skills to attack the rim in straight-line drive situations. Brown is a player to track over the next three seasons.

Elias Emerson | 2027 | Torrance

Emerson proved to be an effective downhill driver and finisher at the rim. The 6-foot-1 combo guard was highly-aggressive in transition offense and used his strong, compact frame to initiate and finish through contact. Emerson also flashed a balanced and consistent mid-range jumper.

Jakobi Oware | 2028 | Long Beach Poly

Oware has a ton of long term potential as a skilled wing. The rising sophomore hit a growth spurt that bumped him up to 6-feet-5 and is carving out a varsity role after playing on the lower levels at Poly as a freshman. Oware has smooth shooting mechanics that translate to a consistent off-catch three-point shot and is a coordinated athlete on his drives and finishes.

Jaythan Pinckney | 2027 | Verbum Dei

If there is one thing that Pinckney does each time he takes the floor it is production. The 6-foot-5 forward is a bully ball driver and finisher in the paint who can also score around the rim with finesse and high quality footwork and shot fakes. The rising junior is a rebound, push and score threat who is also a high-rate offensive rebounder and second chance opportunist.

Lazson Hebrard | 2027 | Taft

Hebrard long-term potential is immense as the long, wiry 6-foot-6 wing has some physical and athletic tools that translate to the next level. The rising junior has the ball skills and fluidity to create for himself off the dribble and his off-dribble jumper from three and mid-range levels is a reliable scoring option for him.

Mar Landry | 2027 | Oak Hills

Landry is a naturally gifted athlete who has quick pop off the floor when driving and finishing above the rim but he is also able to change direction to side-step defenders, stay balanced, and score with touch in the lane. The 6-foot-6 wing is best in transition where he can get to the rim but showed that he has a developing off-dribble jumper going to his left.

Tony Rutledge | 2027 | Rancho Christian

Rutledge shot the cover off the ball to the tune of seven three-pointers in a close loss to Roosevelt. The 6-foot-5 wing is best as a floor-stretching presence off the catch where his simple and smooth mechanics allow him to get his shot off quickly. Rutledge was knocking down shots from every spot behind the arc, showing his consistency from multiple spots and ranges.
