It’s June! The Scholastic Period has begun, meaning prospects across the Palmetto State are back with their High School programs for the next 30 days competing in various camps and events. This weekend I was in North Augusta, South Carolina for the annual South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Live Team Camp. Over 100 SCHSL Schools were in attendance, playing in front of College Coaches. These six players may have been on my radar, but they weren’t in the Prep Hoops Database until a strong showing this weekend. Check them out:

. Whitaker transferred to High Point after a solid year at Gaffney and should be a key piece if the Grizzlies are to get back to the 2A State Championship. He was very active in a Friday matchup with Lake Marion, making several nice plays to create turnovers and force missed shots. Deylen also showed flashes of his offensive game with a left-wing three, a one-dribble pull-up, and a spinning and-1.

Abbeville | 2026
SC
(Abbeville) – Jaylen is a very good athlete with a nose for the ball on both ends of the floor. However, he doesn’t need plays run for him to be successful. In a potential 1A Playoff Preview, Baylor put up 8 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks against Horse Creek Academy. Although his size and athleticism are an advantage at this level, Jaylen still fights hard for every rebound and loose ball. Baylor is a two-sport star for Abbeville, also excelling on the football field.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson | 2026
SC
(Orangeburg-Wilkinson) – Robins left a good first impression on me in a Friday night matchup with Lancaster. Jordan seemed to be everywhere defensively, covering lots of ground as he moved his feet, contested and blocked shots, and worked on the glass. He also is a crafty offensive player with a nice crossover and some creative finishing. Robins finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals while earning most of the second half off.

SC
has quickly become one of the most exciting Shooting Guards in the 2027 Class. He has good positional size at 6’6″ and can fill it up at an efficient rate from the perimeter. He knocked down three threes against Fort Dorchester, but also showed that he can make plays when defenses over-close. Those plays included two nice assists, an and-1, a right-handed layup, and another drawn foul. Stratton had 19 total points in the win.

(Northwestern) – Owusu-Mensah will look to hold down the paint for the Trojans this year. Joseph is active without the ball in his hands as he will cut through the lane, screen for guards, and run the floor in transition. He also showed some polish on Saturday Morning, tallying 12 points against West Ashley including a face-up mid-range score and a push-shot over a shot-blocker.

. He is not built like your average Rising Sophomore, listed at 6’5″ with a very study frame. Robinson will play inside-and-out on the offensive end, using his physical advantage to dominate the post and his skill to stretch the floor with passing and shooting on the perimeter. Eugene also has good bounce and made a nice, athletic block on an opposing big.
