We break it all down in our Nike Elite 100: Tuesday Night #1 vs #2 Matchups!

Top 2 in 2028 Take Stage First

In the opener we saw the rising juniors Bentley Lusakueno (Pace Acadmey, GA) and Anthony Williams II who is also from Georgia go head to head. Not really though because Lusakueno is a five man while Williams is a small forward. Williams had the better game in this one as the lengthy wing is such an advanced IQ wing that can score with a clean jumper from three and mid-range. Super skilled getting to his spots and rising up. Connective along with drive and kick passing. Also impacts as a defender. For Lusakueno he stands at 6'10” with broad shoulders and a frame to add strength on. Struggled early on but then had some moments in the second half using his length and agility to score around the cup.

Baba vs CJ

Consensus top two current 2027s in country are Babatunde Oladotun and CJ Rosser. Oladotun had it working in the first half in their head to head matchup and helped get his team the win. Spin moves, feathery mid-range jumpers, excellent in transition, and has elite footwork. Would like to see him be a bit more efficient with the dribbles, but he has size, skill, athleticism, and shot making to be a very very high NBA Draft choice. Rosser is a mobile big man that can run the floor and flashed defensively getting a couple steals in the contest.

Electric 2027 Scoring Wings Light Up Scoreboard

There were some big time performances among the 2027 wing prospects on Tuesday night. Really liked Montverde (FL) shooting guard King Gibson. He lit up the scoreboard with his crisp handles and wiry quickness off the dribble. Loved the mid-range pull up game and was explosive off the bounce getting to the cup for left handed scoop shots and other tough layups. Ryan Hampton (Dynamic Prep, TX) arrived on Tuesday and was impressive in the night game we saw. Long and rangy two guard that has more size than his brother RJ who was a first round pick. Go go gadget length with solid strength and a ton of skill. Can post up smaller defenders, big time burst to the rim with his considerable strides, and had the float game working. Such a smooth ball handler. Donovan Davis is a 6'7” combo forward from Wisconsin that probably swings more as a four, but he was outstanding with his high motor and ability to score all over the floor. Corner threes, spin moves for left handed finish, steal for a dunk, and impacted on both ends including with his defense. Patrick Otey is originally from Massachusetts, but now plays with OTE in Georgia. He has solid positional size at 6'4” as the strong bodied wing got hot from the field in the final game of the night draining a plethora of mid-range shots and getting to the cup for scoop finishes. Also rebounded well for his size.

2027 Big Men in Different Shapes and Games Show Promise

There are so many different types of big men in the new age game. This list of four that shined on Tuesday night exemplifies that. Derrick Daniels (Paul VI, VA) goes 6'7” and 240 pounds. He played bully ball inside with his raw strength moving bodies for scores. Snatched rebounds at a high rate and showed he can guard in ball screens against guards for a couple dribbles. Cameron Barnes out of Missouri had another strong showing in the evening session. Like Daniels he is a physical post that plays with a high-motor. Finishes with strength and is an strong defender down low. Another Missouri 2027 post is Tyran Frazier as the Hazelwood East big man checked in at 6'10” without shoes. Long arms, angular frame, and is just oozing with upside. Feathery touch on a three and had a nice move for a short jumper in the lane. Ways to go, but the potential is certainly there! Madden Geiger is the son of former NBA player Matt Geiger. He is a floor stretching big man that poured in an array of spot up threes early in the final contest of the night. Needs to continue to tighten up the handles, but the shot will carry this 6'8” four man a long ways!

2027 PGs from East Coast and West Coast Impress

Here we dive into a few of the PGs from the 2027 class that had nice nights. Cayden Daughtry is a leader at the point guard position as the Calvary Christian (FL) product can score while still getting others involved. Loves the float game which he poured in on Tuesday evening. Crisp mid-range shot and overall can really create off the bounce. California lead guard Malcom Price out of St. Joseph's High School pushed the pace throughout their wing. Coast to coast takes, fouled on drives to the rim, and banged in a plethora of triples. Micah Gordon (Plainfield, NJ) is one of the smaller guards at camp at only 5'8”, but he can go! Gets up in the face of opponents defensively, pocket passes for dimes, and creates off the dribble.

Illinois 2028 Making Case for #1 in State

The battle in Illinois for the top spot is tight and Bolingbrook guard Brady Pettigrew continues to make a strong case for the pole position. At 6'2” he can be effective both on and off the ball. Probably best as a scorer as he played with a lot of confidence making a pair of corner threes along with being creative in the mid-range.
