We are in the thick of Indiana All-Star week and Prep Hoops Indiana has been out and about watching all of the action. On Wednesday night, the annual Juniors vs Seniors Indiana All-Star game took place in at Greenfield-Central High School and we got a chance to a see a competitive matchup. Here are a few quick takeaways I got on my end from some of the players.

(Note: Brandon Ramsey will be releasing the top performers. These are just takeaways from players that stood out to me in some way.)

The Notre Dame signee just felt like a difference maker and matchup nightmare when he entered the game off the bench for the Senior All-Star Group. Used his length on both ends of the floor scoring over the defender and defending the post. Looked good from deep as well, which is his strength in many ways. The Irish are getting a very high upside wing.

McGrew just looks better and like a more well-rounded basketball player seemingly every time I watch him on the floor. We all know what a force he can be down low, but now he looks to have become more comfortable from deep continuing his great three-point shooting from earlier this week to this game. If he has a consistent three-point game moving forward, his trajectory as a player is going to rise a ton. Also need to highlight his tough layup and block at the end of the game that pretty much gave the juniors the win.

Shaw is making a strong case the player with most upside in the in-state 2026 class. He was one of the more aggressive players in the Jr. vs Sr. All-Star game on Wednesday night doing such a great job attacking the lane and drawing the contact to get to the line. As the years have gone by, he has become much more comfortable making plays on the ball.

This is another game where I sat back and said to myself "Man, Ladd has a chance to be special." He came off the bench for the Jr. All-Stars and almost immediately would make a play that would catch your attention. Was athletic around the rim while also showing his ability to be tough matchup as a wing defender. He can be a game-changer of a player.

The stats may not jump off the page like others in this game but it just felt like Hayes was one of the more important players for the Jr. All-Stars when he was on the floor. His ability to make plays on the ball as a facilitator and on the drive is fun to watch as well has being difference maker on the defensive end as well. As a defender, no one on the perimeter felt safe when Hayes was guarding them.

The Miami (OH) signee and former Fishers guard showcased his ability to be a spark on both ends of the floor. When the juniors started to take momentum in the game, it felt like it was Kirby that got the seniors right back in it with his defensive stops and plays around the rim. Not a more athletic player in the gym and the juniors had a tough time with it. He has grown as a basketball player and will continue to do so at Miami (OH).
