USE CODE “baxley30” FOR 30% OFF THE FIRST PURCHASE OF ANY SUBSCRIPTION

As we turn the calendar to June, the Class of 2025 finish up their high school years with prom, graduation, and college move-in days. What better way to tie a bow on the Class of 2025 in the South Carolina Basketball Community than with some Superlatives? Check out the 13 Superlatives and which prospects received them below:

The Top Dog - Jordan Watford (Lancaster, Queens University)

The Top Dog superlative goes to the best and most competitive player in the class. This year that award goes to the state's #1 prospect, Jordan Watford. Whether playing with Upward Stars SE or Lancaster High School, Jordan seemed to bring it from a competitive standpoint each and every night. While the list of accolades and achievements is long, there were none more important than bringing a State Championship to Lancaster for the first time in school history.

The Bucket - Abijah Franklin (Wren, Furman University)

The Bucket superlative goes to the top scorer in the class. That choice was easy, as Abijah Franklin was the state leader in points per game at 31.4, over five points per game more than the next closest SCHSL player. Franklin scored almost 900 points in just his senior season, doing so on 50% shooting. Abijah is a bucket-getter at all three levels and was arguably the most difficult guard in the state. He is staying close to home and will play for Coach Bob Richey at Furman.

The Prototype - Eddie Cooke III (Legacy Early College, Robert Morris University)

The Prototype Superlative goes to the player who checks every box and fits what scouts are looking for at the next level. Eddie is listed at 6'7" 215 lbs - a frame that is built for the college game and beyond. Cooke projects as a 3 & D wing and given his physicals, he has the chance to be elite. Eddie is also a team-first guy. He had multiple double-digit rebounds this season in the EYBL Scholastic League, as that was previously a weakness for his team. Cooke will head north to Robert Morris, a program that made the NCAA Tournament last season.

The Sniper - Evan Enos (Byrnes, Coker University)

The Sniper superlative goes to the top shooter in the class. Evan Enos checks this box and will fit in perfectly with Coker's system. The Cobras led the country in three-point field goals attempted and made in 2024-25 and played at one of the fastest paces in the South. Like his future school, Enos played in a face-pace offense at Byrnes High School and shot over 50% from three in conference play in his senior year. Evan produced from a young age for the Rebels, a team that always seemed to be in the mix in 5A.

The Gamer - Daron Dunbar (North Augusta, Augusta University)

The Gamer Superlative goes to the guy that plays hard each and every game no matter the opponent or setting. Daron played well almost every time I saw him and was a frequent standout in my articles. Wherever Dunbar played wins always came with it and it was a big deal for Augusta to keep him home. He lost just 11 games from his sophomore season on, being named All-Region and All-State in all three seasons. Daron is a natural talent and will be one of the best players in the Peach Belt Conference in the near future.

The Clamps - Shane Potts (Goose Creek, Belmont Abbey College)

The Clamps superlative goes to the top perimeter defender in the class. In the most positive way, Potts is a pest on the defensive end of the floor. He has quick feet, strong hands, and is an extremely smart young man. Shane averaged 2.3 steals per game this season but also affects shots and crashes the glass. Goose Creek is well-renowned for their defensive prowess - a big reason why they made the 5A D2 State Championship. Potts will continue his career at D2 Belmont Abbey College.

The Highlight - Jamie Brooks (Atlantic Collegiate, Unsigned)

The Highlight Superlative goes to the top athlete in the Class. Jamie has displayed that on both ends of the floor over the last year. Whether it's catching a body or blocking a shot, there are few in the state who can make the jaw-dropping plays the Brooks can. Despite being a freak athlete, a State Champion, averaging 14 and 8 in his senior year, and scoring over 1,000 career points, Jamie remains unsigned and would be a terrific late add for any school.

The Swiss Army Knife - LJ Britt (Gray Collegiate, Unsigned)

The Swiss Army Knife Superlative goes to the player who is extremely versatile and excels in every category on the court. In his senior season, LJ averaged 11.2 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, 4.2 assists per game, and 2.1 steals per game. His size and strength allow him to excel in all of those categories as he can defend multiple positions and battle through contact on offense. Like Brooks, Britt has yet to sign and should be monitored by any coach looking to fill out a roster.

The Swatter - Brian Sumpter (Keenan, Wofford College)

The Swatter superlative goes to the class' top rim protector. This year it was a pretty easy choice: Keenan's Brian Sumpter. He averaged 3.6 blocks per game while leading the Raiders to a 3A State Championship. However, what makes Sumpter unique and a highly-touted prospect is his ability to block shots from all over the floor. His length is a factor against any matchup and he blocked as many jumpers as he did layups. Brian will need time to develop physically, but he could be a high-level defender for the Terriers one day.

The Enigma - Robert Moore (Tulane University)

The Enigma superlative goes to the prospect with the most intriguing situation. Robert is one of the brightest and most friendly players I have ever interacted with, but he struggled to find a home in his senior season bouncing between Arizona Compass Prep, Moravian Prep, and Legacy Early College. Moore is a natural scorer and had a terrific career at Porter Gaud, which has a history of producing elite basketball players. He eventually found a home at Tulane University and is certainly worth a flyer for Coach Ron Hunter.

The Floor General - Melvin Teal Jr (Summerville, Flagler College)

The Floor General Superlative goes to the Point Guard who sets the table for his teammates and can impact winning in several ways. Whether playing with Summerville High School or the [program_tooltip program_id='2246675' first='Charleston' last='Raptors'], Melvin always seemed to be on triple-double watch whenever I was in the building. He has a bruising frame which is unique for a Point Guard his age, but he always used it to his advantage and never forced the issue. Melvin will continue his basketball career at Flagler College in Florida.

The Mid-Major Star - Amare Anderson (Greer, Presbyterian College)

The Mid-Major Star Superlative goes to the player who I believe can be a star at the Mid-Major level and potentially lead a team to an NCAA Tournament Bid. Presbyterian College has been slowly building a winning program over the last few years which coincides with some other Big South programs taking a step back from their recent success. If given a few years to improve his game, continue to get stronger, and learn the system, I have no doubts Amare could lead PC to be a dangerous Mid-Major team.

The Two-Sport Star - Amarii King (Brookland-Cayce, Lenoir-Rhyne University)

The Two-Sport Star Superlative goes to the player who has the highest combined ranking on Prep Hoops SC and our sister network Prep Redzone SC (Football). King was a Top 25 prospect in Prep Hoops SC's 2025 Rankings and a Top 250 prospect in Prep Redzone SC's Rankings and will play college football at Lenoir-Rhyne University, an elite Division Two program. King had almost 300 all-purpose yards and 3 total touchdowns on the gridiron in 2024.

*Credit to Travis Branham of 24/7 Sports for the Original Idea*
