Additional Day 12 DeMatha Summer League Standouts

Flint Hill didn't have an answer for [player_tooltip player_id='2353558' first='Isaiah' last='Carpenter'] all game, especially on the offensive glass. Isaiah had a couple of nice putbacks, and his energy and length gave Flint Hill problems. His jump shot was working, and he finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a win. In Clinton Grace's other win against Meade, Isaiah did everything well. In both games, Isaiah was outstanding on defense with nice versatility. Isaiah's passing was terrific, he went for 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. There was not much Isaiah didn't show off today.     J'Lon is one of the best guards in Maryland, and he was impressive today. J'Lon does a good job attacking the rim and creating for himself. He has a good jump shot, and he can affect games offensively without scoring a lot. J'Lon has a high IQ and is extremely quick, and it helps him get downhill. He can create on his own from all over the court, and you feel safe when he is your lead guard. J'Lon can control the pace of a game, and that is one of the most impactful skills a guard can have. Controlling the pace and tempo is what makes a lot of the best point guards the best, and to have that at a young age is a huge advantage. J'Lon had 14 points in a win over Flint Hill.     [player_tooltip player_id='2252297' first='Ty' last='Harris'] is a strong and athletic guard who excels at getting to the rim. Ty is a talented corner in football, and you can see that in the way he uses his body and anticipates passing lanes. He has nice speed and can create looks for himself at all three levels. He is a good passer and excels in the open floor. He had 22 points for Flint Hill.     Another Flint Hill player who caught my eye was [player_tooltip player_id='2847084' first='Blake' last='Fitzgerald']. Even though Blake struggled to hit jump shots the first two games of his summer league, there was still a lot to like. Blake was stuck on automatic today, so you saw what he could do when he's making shots. His ability to handle the ball and get to his spots in the mid-range was nice for his size. Blake is 6'7" with a high release, so it helps him to get shots off in traffic. He has good touch at the rim and does a great job hitting deep threes. He is terrific on the glass and has all the tools to be an elite big wing for this Flint Hill team. Blake had 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.     [player_tooltip player_id='1782664' first='Tavares' last='Vaughn-Cooper'] is a talented guard who knows how to get a bucket. Tavares has a great handle and a deep bag of moves and counters to get where he wants to get to. He is an outstanding jump shooter and does a great job as a passer. Tavares is a little small and has the ball a lot, but he is very skilled and will often create a good look for himself or someone else. He finished with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
