ZG Stars and Stripes Classic: sub 6-foot guards who stood out

I watched some of all three high school divisions (freshman, sophomore, and varsity), but of course didn't get to watch the majority of teams/players. The 5-foot-9 point guard is obviously super undersized, but he makes up for it with pest-like defense and a knack for always doing the little things; he slides his feet super well and is very physical and active with his hands and body, and he's alert and focused as a weak side help defender. Offensively, he can handle it solidly and is a great offensive rebounder for his size. The 5-foot-9 combo-guard can handle the ball pretty well but mostly excels as a shooter on the three-point line. Even after he misses a couple in a row, he still steps into his shots with confidence and always thinks he's going to make the next one. He moves really well without the ball and is always on balance when he gets reversals. His height will certainly limit his college hopes, but he looks pretty underdeveloped physically and could improve a lot in the coming years. Offensively, he's quick with the ball in his hands and stays super close to the ground to be able to control it. He also makes heady passes once he gets to the nail or into the paint. He definitely needs to improve his outside shot if he wants to be successful at his size, though, especially at the next level. Defensively, he plays hard and slides his feet well, though his size is a limiting factor on that end. He has good passing vision and was consistently finding teammates down the floor for kick ahead passes and easy layups in transition. Against the zone, he was effective at finding the gaps in the middle of the zone and hitting players with no-look passes. Once he grows into his body and develops some more strength, he should be a really solid player at Seekonk High School. The 5-foot-10 combo-guard has solid quickness and dribbling ability and gets pretty good elevation on his three-point jump shot, which makes him a difficult cover on the perimeter. He hit multiple deep threes over the defense on Sunday. He should be a solid player at North High School next season, but he'll definitely need to improve his composure and feel for the game if he wants to play at the next level as a short guard.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
