We enjoy each and every weekend spent in the gym. However, admittedly, there is a little bit of a different buzz during the live evaluation periods. There are college coaches in the gym at every event we go to, but there is something about seeing the big name Division I coaches along the baselines that changes the vibe. Saturday was a great day of hoops at Spooky Nook in Hamilton, Ohio as we continued our coverage of UAA Session II/UA Rise Session I. Let's empty out the notebook and discuss what we watched on Saturday.

Klopfenstein Shoots the Lights Out For Indiana Jammers 17u

This Indiana Jammers 17u squad is fun to watch. Featuring a bunch of prospects primarily from the Wabash Valley area, this is a group that has played together for a long time and it shows on the floor. They split their two games on Saturday to move to 2-1 on the weekend at UA Rise Session I. However, above all else, the buzz has been centered around 6'6" wing [player_tooltip player_id='1561105' first='Brady' last='Klopfenstein'] (Terre Haute North H.S. 2026). Already known as one of the best catch-and-shoot threats in Indiana's Class of 2026, Klopfenstein is an incredible 19-24 from three-point range through three games. College coaches across the low-major Division I, Division II, and NAIA levels are taking notice. It seems very likely that he will earn a couple of new scholarship offers coming out of the weekend.

Aside from Klopfenstein who went for 24 points in the Jammers' 85-72 loss that we watched against a very good Multilevel Elite team, 6'5" forward [player_tooltip player_id='1561438' first='Cooper' last='Bock'] (Sullivan H.S. 2026) finished with 17 points and [player_tooltip player_id='1561104' first='Gavin' last='Woelfle'] (Terre Haute North H.S. 2026) connected on three three-point shots.

The Jammers will play their final game of the weekend at 1:00 p.m. on Court 12 at Spooky Nook and I highly recommend that any college coach that hasn't caught them yet this weekend stop by to see this team play.

[program_tooltip program_id='2075551' first='Indiana' last='Game'] 17u Wins in Comeback Fashion

After picking up a 66-45 win in the morning, [program_tooltip program_id='2075551' first='Indiana' last='Game'] 17u had to come from beyond in the final couple of minutes to defeat VA Havoc 60-54 and move to 3-0 at UA Rise Session I. After trailing essentially the entire game, including by double figures in the second quarter, [player_tooltip player_id='1560996' first='Josh' last='Malloy'] (Munster H.S. 2026) and Izaya Larthridge (Grand Rapids Central Catholic H.S. 2026) powered a late comeback.

Larthridge nailed a three-point shot running off of a staggered double to cut [program_tooltip program_id='2075551' first='Indiana' last='Game']'s deficit to three points. Then, after getting a stop, Malloy knocked in a triple from the right wing to tie the game at 54-54. After another Larthridge three-pointer, Malloy had a tough interior finish that made it 59-54. Eventually, they would finish the game on an incredible 12-2 run and win 60-54.

Malloy led the way in the scoring column with 20 points while Larthridge added 15 points.

[program_tooltip program_id='2228160' first='OPS' last=''] 17u Fell in Competitive Contest

To round out a back-to-back-to-back-to-back set of games featuring each of the four 17u teams from Indiana, we watched [program_tooltip program_id='2228160' first='OPS' last=''] 17u in the 6:00 p.m. time slot at Spooky Nook. This team played two very competitive games on Saturday, but unfortunately they are still looking for their first win of UA Rise Session I.

They ran into a Bryce Radford Elite squad that connected on 14 three-point shots in the game on their way to defeating [program_tooltip program_id='2228160' first='OPS' last=''] 79-72. However, there were some bright spots in the loss. Recent Bethel commit [player_tooltip player_id='2471421' first='Owen' last='Marshall'] (Columbia City H.S. 2026) led the way with 22 points in the game while [player_tooltip player_id='2837828' first='Levi' last='Sawatzky'] (Goshen H.S. 2026) finished with 19 points. Both Marshall and Sawatzky hit four three-point shots in the game.
