[program_tooltip program_id='2075527' first='Ignite' last='Hoops'] 17U Puts Out [program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire'] USA 17U to Open Sunday

We started the morning off with [program_tooltip program_id='2075527' first='Ignite' last='Hoops'] 17U recording another big win going 72-42. Massive game from Lake Zurich small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2404320' first='Tyler' last='Reed'] who had 25 points in the victory. The southpaw is a plus shooter from distance that has a quick release. He cut well off the ball, finishes out of dunker spot, and is a skilled passer. [player_tooltip player_id='2823585' first='Tony' last='Balanganayi'] of Palatine is a big man that would be a nice D2 post prospect if he would be only a hooper, but he is a top 10 football recruit headed to Illinois. He has such excellent footwork and finishes consistently well around the hoop as he went for 14 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2432328' first='Adrian' last='Riep'] had another good game going for 15 points showing off his versatility on both ends.

KJ Brown was the story for the Fire. The left handed wing impressed with his shot making from distance, ability to get to the line, and activity on the offensive glass in a 24 point outing. The Lincoln Park 2027 is definitely one to track.

Yet Another Niego Shines for Lockdown Manzke 17U in Victory

The Niego name is what the [program_tooltip program_id='2075386' first='Chicago' last='Lockdown'] brand was built on. They have been starring for the program since now director Harrison Niego was playing on their first team. Next up is Brother Rice big man Joseph Niego who had 21 points in Lockdown's 53-49 over [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] National. The 6'7” big man was outstanding with spin moves, hook shots, baseline jumpers, and finishing out of the dunker spot. [player_tooltip player_id='2399378' first='Mason' last='Moore'] is a super intriguing four man at 6'6” with long arms, broad shoulders, and plus athleticism. He flashes, but isn't consistent. Will hit a three, block a shot, and had a sick put back dunk. Doing this consistently is the next step for the Andrew product.

Bishop Noll (IN) point guard Gabriel Mobley was very impressive in this outing for [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] National. Natural bucket getter that scored from all three levels including pouring in four triples. Bremen 6'2” shooting guard Jalen Clarady is a big bodied wing that can score downhill with toughness. [player_tooltip player_id='2532254' first='Jaymon' last='Hornsby'] from Lincoln Way East is a 5'11” lead guard that pushes the pace.

Rockford Boylan Wing Duo Shine for Slam City 16U

Slam City Elite 16U poured it on 65-40 over Crossover in their Sunday contest. Rockford Boylan shooting guard Alex Ambrose is a big time shot maker from three that had 18 points. Fellow Boylan guard [player_tooltip player_id='2125646' first='Jayven' last='Golden'] was excellent in the mid-range. The 6'2” shooting guard has good length which plays well on the defensive end. Went for 9 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2809287' first='Curtis' last='Ellis'] was the motor for Crossover. The Fenton 5'11” point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2809287' first='Curtis' last='Ellis'] is a quick left handed guard that turned defense into offense, pushed the pace, and scored in bunches netting 16 points.

May Shines in His Month for Ignite 16U as Shooter with Size

Palatine 2027 6'6” small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2836314' first='Brady' last='May'] made an impression on us during the high school season and it's only fitting that he would shine brighter in the month of May in [program_tooltip program_id='2075527' first='Ignite' last='Hoops'] 61-46 victory against M14 National 1. May had 15 points including three triples. He has such a free and easy release from beyond the arc. Flashed some handles and finishing including a euro step. Hoffman Estates 6'3” small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2836171' first='Cameron' last='James'] is the ultimate Swiss Army knife being able to contribute in a number of ways. Tough rebounder. I really liked what he brought as a passer setting up teammates. Guard Will Baik of Hersey had a good outing as the lead guard was an active defender that pushed in the open floor and scored in the paint netting 13 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2836173' first='Ramon' last='Rosario'] is a two guard from Hoffman Estates that was nifty converting around the rim and wrecked havoc defensively going for 6 points.

[program_tooltip program_id='2075386' first='Chicago' last='Lockdown'] 16U Depth Pushes Past Monster Game from Schneider

This game went down to the wire as [program_tooltip program_id='2075386' first='Chicago' last='Lockdown'] 16U won against [program_tooltip program_id='2622592' first='Flight' last='Athletics'] Hill 72-71 in a thrilling contest. Riverside Brookfield guard [player_tooltip player_id='2830075' first='Jacob' last='Gonzalez'] got scorching hot in the second half from three as the 6'0” guard hit three of them in the second half en route to 11 points. Really liked what we saw from Stagg 6'5” power forward [player_tooltip player_id='2467723' first='Mohammad' last='Farhan']. The post has broad shoulders and good skill. Seals on the block, hook shots, pick/roll finisher, and can handle off a defensive rebound. Went for 12 points. Andrew point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2125664' first='Malik' last='Mahmoud'] was a spark plug for this squad recording 16 points in the win. Fiery leader that pushed in the open floor, hit a trio of threes, and made difficult shots at the rim.

Lemont combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='2749990' first='Zane' last='Schneider'] was fantastic for [program_tooltip program_id='2622592' first='Flight' last='Athletics'] in the loss. The 6'3” rising junior plays more of a facilitating role on the high school level. He was unleashed as a scorer here. Strong build with a versatile scoring game hitting threes, scoring on cuts, and finishing through contact off the bounce with his strength. Dropped 30 points in the flow of the game while also still using his passing feel to get others involved. [player_tooltip player_id='2402634' first='Xavier' last='Johnson'] of Romeoville is a 6'0” two guard that knocked in some threes early in the game and used his bruising frame getting to the rack as the game went along finishing with 15 points. Big second half for Lockport 6'0” guard Nathan Munson who got to the foul line at a high rate scoring 12 points.

Quick Notes

We caught Glenbard West small forward [player_tooltip player_id='1552441' first='Josh' last='Abushanab'] on Saturday post 41 points. It wasn't quite that on Sunday morning, but a big outing none the less as he had 19 points. The big wing was pouring in threes for Play Hard Hoops hitting four of them.

[player_tooltip player_id='2875738' first='Cornelius' last='Blakely'] showed some promise for [program_tooltip program_id='2075732' first='Next' last='Generation'] as a 2026 big man. The Plainfield Central 6'5” power forward is a bit raw, but there are a lot of tools to work with here. Athleticism pops on the glass and as a rim protector.

Illinois Elite has a couple nice guards on their 17U squad. Rockford Auburn guard [player_tooltip player_id='2864704' first='Nyaire' last='Wright'] is a well built 6'1” guard that shot it well hitting 4-5 from deep for 23 points. Rockford East 6'0” point guard Maurice Holland has a ton of speed with the ball attacking with reckless abandon along with being a force defensively with his intensity creating turnovers.

The Chicago Cannons 16U have been making noise this spring. We saw why on Sunday as their point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2845706' first='Aiden' last='Guisti'] from Mt. Carmel was draining three after three. Super deep range for the 5'11” 2027 guard. Schurtz 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2844900' first='Kamarion' last='Fagairo'] is a 6'4” four that is well built with strength and length. He seals well on the block and the lefty has a nice free throw stroke showing he could develop as a shooter.
