He used his tight handle and quick changes of pace to get to his spots on the floor to score and used his explosive leaping ability to finish at the rim and showed himself to be a lob target as well. He was at his best attacking the rim and looking to score or kick the ball out to an open teammate. Defensively, Akins applied full court pressure, frequently forced turnovers and used his quick and instinctive to impact the game. Look for Ryder Akins to be a name this summer. He plays the game efficiently as he rarely tries to do too much with the ball in his hands. He is quick to attack a gap in the defense but disciplined enough to back dribble out of traffic. I took note of his touch in traffic and ability to finish at the rim. But what really caught my attention was Elijah smooth shot mechanics and movement without the ball with flareless footwork. Legit 3-point shot making ability. He darts up the court with the ball with speed while keeping his eyes up for open teammates for pinpoint passes. Cameron is quite a slick change of direction on a dime.
