Big Shots came to Richmond with Paul Biancardi at the Henrico Sports Complex, bringing with them some of the top teams from across VA and the entire east coast. With so much talent in the building, we'll take a look over the next few days of some of the best players from the event. Here's a look at some of the 15U standouts from VA.

Laver is really making a name for himself with this talented Loaded group after winning a state championship with Stuart Hall, and he was one of the most productive players in the event winning 15U MVP after leading them to a championship. The 6'7” forward has so many tools you love to see out of a young big man, as he has a great frame, is a good athlete and plays extremely hard already with a lot of upside still. He showed the ability to attack the glass and get buckets on extra opportunities, he showed solid perimeter skills with the ability to handle in transition and make shots out to the three-point line, he played above the rim and he was a great back line defender too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2548181' first='Isaiah' last='Carter'] | 6'6” WF | [program_tooltip program_id='2226307' first='Team' last='Loaded VA']

Carter is the most impressive freshman in the Richmond area and it really isn't close, and he continues to show that early in the AAU season. When it comes to a young wing, I haven't seen many in my decade of scouting that fit the trio of prototypical size, smooth athleticism and all-around skillset the way that Carter does at his age. At 6'6” with long arms he showed the ability to move his feet and contest shots against multiple different positions, he shot the ball extremely well with great form and excellent range, he showed the ability to create off the bounce in isolation and in transition, and he showed great feel and a high IQ as a playmaker too.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956077' first='Jordan' last='Jackson'] | 6'8” PF | [program_tooltip program_id='2226307' first='Team' last='Loaded VA']

When it comes to high upside prospects, there aren't many I've seen in the 2028 class anywhere that have as much as Jackson, who hails from Holy Cross in Kentucky. The 6'8” forward already moves like you would see a college wing or four move, as he has great end-to-end speed and is an explosive athlete who plays above the rim effortlessly. He had multiple highlight reel finishes above the rim both in transition and on lobs and put backs, he was excellent protecting the rim and showed he can switch on guards, he showed range and consistency on the perimeter and he still has so much room to polish and get better moving forward.

RJ Mickleberry | 6'3” WG | RockIt Sports Athey (16U)

Mickleberry is another very impressive freshman in the Richmond area who had a big season for Glen Allen this year, and on top of that he made it look easy playing up with RockIt's talented 16U team where he's a starter and one of the best shooters on a team full of deep range assassins. We've watched him since he was in middle school, and even when he was about 5'7” he had the ability to shoot it with effortless range and consistency, and now that he's pushing 6'3” he's able to do it with little to no room as well. He showed a lightning quick release and the ability to set his feet quickly on the move, he was good as a secondary ball handler and distributor and he showed great instincts defensively too.

Dillon Murphy | 6'4” F | VA Havoc

Murphy is a new name I discovered on a young Havoc team that has some impressive young prospects, but the 6'4” hybrid forward from TPLS stood out with his size and ability to shoot it at his age. He knocked down 6 three-pointers in the game I watched, showing his ability to not only spot up for kick-outs but also his ability to knock down shots on the move with a quick release, pop and slip screens for easy looks and his ability to challenge shots and move his feet as well.

Julian Trotter | 6'3” PF | VA Havoc

Trotter was another very productive player I watched for this group, as the 6'3” forward out of Colonial Heights was an absolute handful to deal with in the paint and in the midrange. He's a strong built kid for his age and showed the ability to use his body to clear out space and finish through traffic, he rebounded well and showed a good motor attacking the glass, he moved well off the ball to get open and as he continues to grow he'll be a player to keep an eye out for.
