May 2nd-4th I attended the annual Bash in the Desert at the Phhacility and Cortez HS locations. It had exactly 60 teams total and I watched almost every team in 17U and 16U and some of the 15U teams to form a good opinion of the field.

Here were the top-8 Stock Risers I watched

[player_tooltip player_id='2423151' first='Ehikue' last='Asemota'] Dream City Christian

A good sized guard who I simply have not watched since last Spring. He has good size for position and he is a two-way player. He slows down his opponents every game he plays with his length, quick twitch and anticipation skills. He will score from all three levels.

[player_tooltip player_id='2784885' first='Owen' last='Brackmann'] Horizon

The rising senior is getting more and more athletic as he ages. He can throw it down impressively on the break and can score from inside and out with improving skill. He shoots it from deep and is starting to put it together.

[player_tooltip player_id='1633057' first='Zeshawn' last='Gould'] Shadow Ridge

Gould is another player I have not seen since last year. He will score and defend multiple positions. He will shoot it from the three point line and get downhill. He will also make plays for his teammates and takes pride in his defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1875481' first='Isaiah' last='Smith'] Pinnacle (Pictured)

The wing forward is your classic late bloomer. He is filling in and getting stronger and his skill is polishing up. He has great length and will score with dunks and perimeter jumpers from the arc. He will be a valuable asset to the Pioneers this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432454' first='Sekou' last='Sackor'] Centennial

A hyper athletic combo guard is super twitchy and he is steadily improving his overall skill and shooting. He will shoot the three more comfortably than just a year ago and it didn't hurt that he also grew a little.

[player_tooltip player_id='2295694' first='Ben' last='Gruver'] Casteel

A quickly growing combo guard is another that is polishing up his skill and being more aggressive then a year ago. He uses his new size to his advantage getting downhill. He handles it really well and he can create his own offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1876346' first='Sebastian' last='Vargas'] Eduprize

A bigger guard is another I did not see recently. He has great size, skill and some athleticism. He shoots it with range from beyond the three and he can create his own offense off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146238' first='Victor' last='Vu'] Apollo

The undersized scoring point guard can make players around him better with his pinpoint passing. He sees the court quickly and will throw the dime. He will score with threes and pull-ups. He sat out the first 9 games last year and he will provide a spark to the Hawks this season.
