May 2nd-4th I attended the annual Bash in the Desert at the Phhacility and Cortez HS locations. It had exactly 60 teams total and I watched almost every team in 17U and 16U and some of the 15U teams to form a good opinion of the field.

A physical wing with some guard skills. He works well from mid-range and in and will go to work. He will score with rip thrus with contact, quick spin moves with players around him to score, floaters and euro steps. He is a good rebounder and help defender and long in the passing lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2574808' first='Ruach' last='Gony'] Bella Vista Prep (Team Supreme 17)

A long and fluid two-way forward who can face-up. He can hit the three but he loves the mid-range jumpers, which is his sweet spot currently. He will score with euro steps, alley-oop dunks and can get to his spots off the dribble. He is a good passer from the high post and super long in the passing lanes plus will block shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291976' first='Collin' last='Kvamme'] Campo Verde ([program_tooltip program_id='2422356' first='3D' last='Hoops'] 17)

A top notch scoring lead guard has a strap from deep. He likes using the floater game, he can step back on his defender from deep and will score with tough drives with his left hand. He has a good feel for the game and will drive and kick it to a spot up shooter in rhythm.

[player_tooltip player_id='2848088' first='Daniel' last='Lavrinovich'] Dream City Chrstian (Peak National 17)

A newcomer for me is from Lithuania. He has great size for a guard/wing and will score it with catch threes and gets on the glass often to score it with a nice touch. He will block shots and rebounds well using his size. He also has a big time feel for the game and plays the game like a point forward type with skill.

Osami Maciel St. Paul/CA (Peak National 17)

A pure point guard guided the team with smart passes in stride. He makes extra passes when needed and can score. He will score with off the dribble threes, blow by drives, give and go baskets and hustles for loose balls. He has a super high IQ and sees the court quickly. His skill and mind get it done every game.

Sebastian Meraz Hanks/TX (El Paso Matrix 17)

A long wing forward can score from all three levels. He can shoot it with mid-range jumpers with high elevation, drive to the basket with a nice handle for position and hit the catch three. He is a good passer with either hand and passes the ball unusually well with his left hand. He showed toughness playing through an injury.

A scoring guard with some size was one of the top shooters on 17U. He was playing up a level and he has one of those strokes that look good every attempt. He gets the ball off of his hands in a blink of an eye and he will score layups on the break and utilizes the floater game.

Anthony Rubio SF 6'3 2026 El Paso Burgess/TX (El Paso Aztecs 17)

A very long and lean wing forward who can score with euro steps. mid-range jumpers and threes. He rebounds well in his area and he can create his own offense with a crab dribble and fall away from his defender.

Cliff Willis Bakersfield/CA PG 6'0 2026 (Team Rampage 17 New Balance)

A strong scoring point guard with next level court vision. He has a super tight handle in close spaces and then will whip it to a teammate. He scores with high level mid-range jumpers and drives to the cup. He also has plus lateral quickness to defend on the ball.
