On Sunday, April 27th, I attended the Zero Gravity Rumble for the Ring at Dana Barros Basketball Club. I caught some games from each of the high school divisions, though it's impossible to see everybody play. Below is part three of the standouts I came across.

Beatty is a cerebral guard who really knows what he's doing out there on the court. He threw multiple beautiful no-look passes to wide open bigs in the dunker spots that demonstrated his passing vision, and he also showed off some nice pick and roll game; he takes his time and is quite patient when it comes to making reads. He has a nice-looking shot that forces opposing guards to go over the screens and athleticism at the rim to finish if he can turn the corner. Very bright future ahead for Beatty, especially once he puts on some weight.

Cornell's combination of size, length and coordination for his age is pretty rare. Most 6-foot-6 freshmen are still learning their bodies — and don't get me wrong, so is he — but he has a smoothness to the way he runs that makes me think he'll continue to get even more athletic and comfortable as time goes on. Most impressive was his shooting touch; he hit multiple high-arc three pointers and his release looks pretty solid. Cornell is definitely a project, but the future is bright for him if he can continue to develop, which I bet he will. Sky's the limit.

I was really impressed with Bernstein's game. He has a fabulous understanding of ball and player movement for a freshman, and he's also quite skilled on the offensive end. He has a beautiful-looking stroke that he hits with consistency, and he attacks closeouts with decisiveness and ferocity. He isn't the freakiest above-the-rim athlete, but he plays with great pace and is so skilled on that end of the floor. Some improvements to Bernstein's body — which will come with time — will be huge for his development, and I think he'll become a really excellent college prospect in the coming years.

Scott hit a bunch of shots in Sunday morning's contest against a really tough Magic team. The 6-foot-1 sophomore has a quick release that he was able to get off both beyond the arc and in the midrange, and he showed off some solid dribbling moves to attack closeouts once the defense started overplaying him for his shot. He's a solid athlete on the defensive end, too. At Champlain Valley Union high school, Scott should be a pretty significant force. Unsure about the next level unless he makes some improvements to his body and handle.

Paliling was the most consistent driver and creator for Duncan Hoops, who I saw play a really tough Magic squad. The lefty guard has a good handle and was able to attack downhill with his in and out dribble and crossover, and he has a solid floater game once he punctures the paint. He also knocked down some outside shots. Defensively, Paliling played quite hard for the entire game and never took any possessions off despite a big deficit. Really solid player who should have a nice high school season, but size will limit his college recruitment.
