Windy City War: Back Court Visionaries

There were a lot of good ball handlers we got to see this weekend in Illinois at the Prep Hoops Circuit Windy City War. The following point guards were a handful of the top guys that saw the floor in multiple ways.    Was able to handle it vs quick speed and against plenty of pressure through the weekend. Scored it in different ways as well. Goes off the bounce smoothly into his spots from mid range and beyond the arc. Reads screens well coming off of his bigs' shoulder to shoulder with no space to jump a gap for the defender. Catch and shoot from 3 was effective and made some big time shots at crucial points late game. Defensively plays with quick instincts and digs well at the ball 1 pass away.     Was the floor general for his team that went 3-1 overall on the weekend and finished first in their pool. Made hard takes into the lane with traffic to draw contact and get to the stripe. Liked his ability to remain in control when penetrating the gaps and still find kickouts when defense collapsed. Plays with a hard nosed demeanor on both ends. Has a nice finishing touch when he gets to the bucket. Converted on a couple cool floaters over length going full speed.     Skill and will makes up for his size. Strong tough guard that likes to get up and pressure. I don't have an all defensive team this weekend but if I did he would be on it. Can make the offense play at a faster uncomfortable speed which creates turnovers in the back court or right after the mid line. Plays smart with his hands defensively and utilizes his foot speed effectively enough to make the ball handler commit il-intentioned decisions. Possesses a special ability get the team's offense going on a streak in a hurry.     Tallied double digits in the first half of the last game of the weekend. Works well in transition either pitching it ahead for easy primary break points or fighting through traffic keeping a controlled dribble to the cup. Confident in his scoring abilities on all 3 levels. Made a pull up into a 3 on the dribble, a jump shot off 2 dribbles from the elbow, another mid range shot drawing contact for an And 1, and a nice smooth take to the rim to finish over longer length.     Caught him playing on Sunday in the team's last game of the weekend. Can obviously play the two at the next level but I have him on my point list because of his ability to handle the rock under a lot of pressure. In a really fast up tempo physical game he helped slow down the pace a bit and make the defense guard for longer possessions. Went through traffic a couple of times and able to finish vs more athleticism. Tallied him for 3 3's and was poised on his catch and shoot on spray outs from his point. Is a pick me up type of player who helped pause a couple of opponents offensive runs.
