In today's game, a team's success heavily relies on their ability to shoot the ball with a high level of efficiency, particularly from beyond the three-point line. Each of the players showcased in this article is a shooter—some better than others, but all are better than most, if that makes sense. Here is my list of shooters who impressed at the PrepHoops LoneStar State Showdown.

Andre Langston, a 6'1" guard from Estacado High School's class of 2027, is a long and instinctive player who consistently made things happen. Playing with pace and unselfishness, he always looked to get his teammates involved. Langston's defensive awareness and willingness to take risks consistently paid off. His true strength lies in his shot-making ability. While some players are known for creating their own shot, Langston excels at knocking down open jumpers with precision. Keep an eye on him this summer, as he's poised to be a breakout star.

[player_tooltip player_id='1543642' first='Colton' last='Spence'], a 6'11" prospect for [program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] basketball, could have easily been featured alongside the top big men, but his ability to shoot the three-ball sets him apart. It's not every day you see a player of his size stroking it from beyond the arc. He's a bit of a secret weapon for his team—he may not log the most minutes, but when he's on the court, you can count on him to knock down a long jumper. While Spence's size alone makes him a target for the next level, his shooting ability could be the deciding factor that elevates him above other players in his class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1679405' first='Javonte' last='Ford'], a 6'4" wing for [program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] Basketball, had scouts buzzing for two undeniable reasons: his deadly three-point shooting and his freakish athleticism. While he could easily be highlighted for his all-around game, any discussion about top shooters has to include Ford. He's a knock-down three-point sniper, but that's just the beginning. If defenders overcommit to the perimeter, he'll punish them with a smooth mid-range jumper. And if that's not enough, he'll throw down a thunderous dunk on anyone near the rim. A clear college prospect and a top-ranked player in the class of 2026, Ford is a dual-threat scorer who can light you up from outside or dominate above the rim.

Christopher "CJ" Mendoza, a 2027 prospect from Seminoles High School, possesses a quick release and a reliable jump shot. He roams the three-point line effectively, cuts to the basket with purpose, and plays with a high basketball IQ on both ends of the court. Mendoza is a knock-down shooter who can always be counted on to deliver when a basket is needed. While he has the size to score at all three levels, his elite shooting is what truly sets him apart. Mendoza is clearly a dedicated shooter and a player to watch as he continues to add to his already impressive summer campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id='2833379' first='Kai' last='Franklin'], a 2027 prospect from Elkins High School in Missouri City, is a pure shooter with undeniable talent. One glimpse of him knocking down three-pointers on consecutive possessions is all it takes to realize he has game. Franklin possesses textbook shooting form, and if he gets his feet set with a clear look at the basket, you might as well get back on defense. He was easily one of the best shooters at the event, but Franklin is more than just a shooter. He's a lockdown defender who creates turnovers, a fast and strong player who can finish through contact, and a strong rebounder with great court vision. He has all the tools to be a next-level point guard.
