The inaugural Mid-Major Classic took place on Sunday, March 16, and 40 of the top 1A/2A/3A players in the state gathered to play competitive all-star games against one another in front of a packed gym at Riverside High School in West Linn. Lining one wall of the gym were a whole host of college coaches from the D-III/NAIA/JC ranks to watch the talent on display, and after checking our own notes, we checked in with them along with some other trusted observers to see who they thought were the top performers on the day. Here are some more players from the teams that made the finals (Team Martin and Team Lillebo) that coaches mentioned making an impression on them during the event.

[player_tooltip player_id='2709264' first='Tyler' last='Whitson'] (2025 Creswell) - The co-Mountain Valley Conference POY impressed with his all-around play and motor on the basketball floor. The 6-foot-2 senior shot an extremely high percentage from all areas of the floor - 7-for-11 overall and 4-for-6 from deep - hit the boards with 11 total boards, and dished out 5 assists against only 1 turnover. He noted that he's currently talking to Lane and Pacific the most.

[player_tooltip player_id='2205000' first='Lucas' last='Zook'] (2025 Western Christian) - The 2A First Team All-State honoree came to play at the Mid-Major Classic and was going all out on every possession and every play. While he didn't shoot it as well as we've seen him do in the past, he was constantly around the basketball on both ends of the floor and was creating havoc pushing the ball or pressuring opposing ball-handlers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1604665' first='Isaiah' last='Koehnke'] (2025 Regis) - One might think the state's all-time leading scorer at all classifications would have a ball-dominant personality, but that wasn't the case for Koehnke at the Mid-Major Classic. The senior guard took what the defense gave him and was more than willing to share the basketball with his all-star teammates. He posted double figures in scoring in both games (shooting 4-for-9 from three), helped out on the boards, while also registering 8 assists against only 2 turnovers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2816593' first='Jaren' last='Fronckowiak'] (2025 Cascade Christian) - One of the most decorated players at the event as a multi-year 3A title winner with Cascade Christian, the senior guard really shone in the championship game of the Mid-Major Classic. He knocked down open threes (4-for-7 from deep), slashed to the basket for scores, also and found guys in the open floor for buckets, dishing out 5 assists without a single turnover.

Casse Roozeboom (2025 Crane) - The big guys with the Mustangs got most of the press this year, but Rozzeboom showed that he was a also a key guy with all of Crane's success these past few years too. The senior guard consistently made winning plays, knocked down open shots, took good care of the basketball, and was active on the defensive end. He scored a team-high 14 points for Team Lillebo in their opening game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2816606' first='Rajdeep' last='Singh'] (2025 McLoughin) - One of the more unknown guys coming into the event, the senior guard certainly turned heads with his play. Singh not only showed the ability to create and make shots, but played with poise and confidence, and impressed with his work ethic throughout the event from before it began to after it finished.

[player_tooltip player_id='2258537' first='Hunter' last='Courtney'] (2025 Scio) - Courtney may not have shot it as well at the Mid-Major Classic as he did this past year in Scio's historic season, but the senior guard showed grit and toughness in both games for Team Lillebo. He pulled down a team-high 10 boards in their opening win.
