I attended the annual Hoopers Only King of the City AAU Tournament at the Phhacility in Phx. I watched two days of action on Friday and Saturday, March 29-30. I watched around 30 teams play one or two times in the 2 days of action.

Here are some of the 2027 Guard Standouts I viewed

[player_tooltip player_id='2412232' first='Terrell' last='Fair II'] Cactus Shadows (Hoop Code 16)

A strong and tough scoring guard. The lefty can get downhill in heavy traffic and absorbs contact well and then will bounce off of defenders to score. He will shoot three and loves the corners especially. He is a tough on-ball defender and will block shots and collect steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146266' first='Douglas' last='Sweatt'] Mesa Mountain View (AZ Gremlins Black 16)

A pure point guard may be undersized but is tough, strong and skilled. He will score with threes, mid-range jumpers, use the floater, get downhill with his left and he can rise up and score it. He will also slither in the lane and drop off the dime. He had a few no look passes perfectly in stride.

[player_tooltip player_id='2297438' first='Oliver' last='Burbach'] Brophy Prep (AZ Select 16 UAA)

A scoring combo guard with a fluid handle. He is a way better passer then he gets credited with as he had some needle threaders. He will score with threes, he cuts off the ball and can burst to the basket with his left and handle the contact. He will also take charges showing some toughness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276245' first='Nizir' last='Cannady'] AZ Compass Prep (UH Elite 16)

A jet quick point guard has the ball on a string. He has a real burst to get downhill with his tighter handle and speed in the open court. He sees the court well and will slice up the defense. He is very quick on the ball defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2466364' first='Gabe' last='Coronado'] Catalina Foothills (Hoop Code 16)

A thicker framed guard can play a little on or off the ball. He is a scorer from all levels with catch threes, up and under inside moves, floaters in the paint and will collect a steal and lay it in. He also rebounds well in his area.

[player_tooltip player_id='2330556' first='Noah' last='Garven'] Mesquite (AZ Grassroots 16)

A scoring guard with some size. He will hit the three off the catch, he uses quick bursts to get to the basket and his floater game is on point. He has quicker hands on defense and can carry a team in stretches with his scoring.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133646' first='Myles' last='Godfrey'] Cactus Shadows (Hoop Code 16)

A pure point guard with a yo-yo handle. He sees the court well and uses his length on defense. His three point stroke is looking better and better and comes with real range. He uses his quick hands and feet on defense and makes the game easy for his teammates around him.

[player_tooltip player_id='2052370' first='Jackson' last='Harrison'] Scottsdale Christian Academy (AZ Select 16 UAA)

A bigger scoring guard or combo. He will throw passes up the court for assists and he can score it easily. He will rattle in threes off the catch or pull with deep range. He will also hit the mid-range jumper. Once he hits his first shot, he can go on his own runs.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146268' first='Brock' last='Knee'] Arcadia (AZ Select 16 UAA)

A bigger scoring guard is a very consistent shooter from mid to the three point line. He comes with a quicker trigger and he will also dribble drive to the basket. He is definitely becoming a better passer and rebounder as he ages.

[player_tooltip player_id='2107119' first='Cristian' last='Jimenez'] Hamilton (AZ Gremlins Black 16)

A pass first point guard with a very tight handle. He is a little undersized but he has a super quick fist step and uses the floater game well. He is a next level passer and will dime his teammates. He processes information quickly.

[player_tooltip player_id='2422556' first='Henry' last='Matus'] Canyon Del Oro (Valley Elite 16)

A scoring guard is super steady. He is a good passer but a natural scorer. He has a high level mid-range jumper off the dribble and the team tries freeing him up with elevators and picks. His mid-range pull-up and catch three is tough to contain and he can get past his defender and find a player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2266385' first='Braylen' last='Gray'] Willow Canyon (Hoop Code 16)

A bigger scoring guard is a lefty sharp shooter. He comes with deep three point range and he has a compact stroke. He likes using the runner in the lane with his left hand and plays competitively on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2559538' first='Notorious' last='Street'] San Tan Charter (UH Elite 16)

A defensive minded point guard who has good court vision. He has great speed in the open court and can slice up a defense. He can get to the rim with a burst of speed and he rebounds the ball well with a stronger frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='2109038' first='Nate' last='Tainsky'] Hamilton (AZ Gremlins Black 16)

A scoring guard with some size. He can get hot very quickly. He has deep three point range, he will score with mid-range fall aways, and-1's in traffic with his elusiveness and tear drops. He plays the passing lanes well and he will drive and kick it to a teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146240' first='Nickolas' last='Williams'] Skyline Prep ([program_tooltip program_id='2407834' first='AZ' last='Phenoms'] 16)

A bigger guard who can play on or off the ball. His first instinct is to score it with tough contested layups, offensive rebound put backs, catch threes, back door cuts and he uses his long wingspan in the passing lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2052368' first='Makhi' last='Anthony'] Phhoenix Prep (Shifty Elite 17)

A scoring real point guard who is a shifty ball handler. He has great speed with the ball and he is super quick and can get to the rim. He will find a teammate quickly and throw the pass. He will score with threes and layups in the lane. He leads the PHH Prep Erik Hood team.

[player_tooltip player_id='2223522' first='Kolby' last='Barnes'] Perry (AZ Select 16 UAA)

A bigger point saw his first action of play since last July. He injured himself and missed all of his sophomore AIA season. He plays at a next level pace. He has a tighter handle and can control a game with his IQ and court awareness. He will get to the basket and score with pull-ups. He uses his length on defense to block shots or close out to shooters.

[player_tooltip player_id='2332290' first='Amir' last='Kendrick'] Cesar Chavez ([program_tooltip program_id='2407834' first='AZ' last='Phenoms'] 16)

A physical two-way point guard can lock up his opponents and collect steals. He rebounds well and will score. He will fill it up with quick burst to the basket, post ups, quick spins to the cup and earn trips to the line. He will also throw passes up the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291974' first='Nick' last='Reber'] Highland (UH Elite 16)

A bigger scoring guard with a strong frame and great strength. He has good pace to his game and uses his frame to get downhill to the basket thru contact. He is good on the break and makes smart reads. He will have a huge junior year for the Hawks next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276224' first='Tre' last='Wilkins'] AZ Compass Prep (UH Elite 16)

A scoring guard who has grown maybe two inches in the last year or so is stronger and tougher. He will score with transition buckets and jumpers. He is a catch and shoot three point sniper with a compact stroke who is aggressive on defense.
