Hoop City South Dakota 17U Update

Led by Mitchell High School's Head Coach Ryker Kreutzfeldt, the team went 4-0. They were without a couple key guys for them too. Of all the things he did at the tournament, after watching nearly all the action, Marvin's ability to knockdown a three in multiple settings on the court was most impressive. If he shoots like that all Summer, he could garner wide-ranged attention from D1 programs. He just went on a visit to Northern State University. Richard III directly quoted this to me. <br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:quote --> <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"><!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The visit really exceeded my expectations of Northern State, the visit went beyond great and just being in the presence of the place you could tell how great the atmosphere would be playing in the Barnett Center. Coach Wilbs is a really great guy and so down to earth about everything and really cares about his players as i witnessed. He and the coaching staff are cooking something up great in Aberdeen. The staff he brought in to coach along him are amazing, very cool people! That didn't stop him from earning an offer from Iowa NAIA Briar Cliff University. They love their fringe D2/NAIA prospects in South Dakota and have had massive success. Some of these NAIA guys in South Dakota can hoop and have sound profiles. It's just getting more difficult landing that DII offer. It would be a good add for the program, with his length and 6'9" size. I think a lot had to do with how hard he plays and how he affects a game with his mindset and playstyle. He competes defensively, gets heavy on the glass, and is a wrecking ball in transition. A catch-and-shoot three-ball artist. He wasn't a scoring point guard, he was a guy that handled the ball and pressure for the team. He got out and played fast in transition with a goal in mind to find his teammates.
