is off the board. After a fantastic senior season both individually and with the team at Southridge, it was time for the all-around guard to make a decision on where he'll hoop at the next level. After looking over all of the options, Reckamp made the decision to stay in-state and he'll be playing his college ball in Eugene at Bushnell University.
"It was the coaches and also when I visited Bushnell it was the environment and positive culture that really stood out and was something that I was looking for in a college that Bushnell had," Reckamp said. "What I like about the school is the campus and also how they have a lot of people that can help you with whatever you need, very welcoming and open to helping you, as for the program I love how they will develop you on and off the court with the people on staff ready and willing to help."
As noted, Reckamp had a number of different options. But when overall Bushnell was the best fit for him on and off the court, and when it came to basketball he's excited about what's ahead.
"I see myself fitting on the court just like how I know I can play now, competing, can shoot/score, and hard nosed defense too," Reckamp said. "As for the role freshman year I just wanna go in and do whatever is needed for the team and work hard to hopefully earn some minutes but whatever is necessary for the team and to help win. I think continuing to develop my game all around and also getting stronger too because everyone is stronger and faster so it's important for me to be ready for that."
With his commitment, Reckamp caps off a memorable four-year career at Southridge, one where he helped lead the Skyhawks to two 6A state tournaments and achieve plenty of individual accolades, including co-Metro League Player of the Year as a senior.
"I'll remember just hanging and being with the team like at dinners, bus rides, and also trips too," Reckamp said. "And a couple good memories for myself such as hitting 1k points, buzzer beater to tie game at Gresham, and buzzer beater at end of 3rd quarter in 2nd round playoffs my junior year."
Our congratulations go out to Reckamp and his family on his commitment.
