The Class A quarterfinals gave us some new players to get to know more this week at state!

Ethan Buckholtz of Nevis (2026). Ethan came off the bench and scored seven times for Nevis as the key ingredient in the quarterfinal win. Ethan was 7 of 9 for 15 points including a three and his contributions went a long way in the 58-52 win.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490631' first='Owen' last='Chervestad'] of Red Lake County (2025). Owen has had an all state level season in Class A and yesterday his five baskets and his eight assists was the difference. Owen had a rough foul shooting day but outside of that, his playmaking still got his team where they needed to be.

Logan Kostelecky of Henning (2025). Logan did a fantastic job carrying this team as a leading scorer while [player_tooltip player_id='1560827' first='Kale' last='Misegades'] was out and his game was just okay yesterday at 13 points. Logan's four field goals included three at the arc and while the size of Nevis in the paint was an issue, it's still worth noting that Logan has had a tremendous season.

Gunner Liebl of Dawson-Boyd (6'0, 2026). Liebl has been outstanding all season. He is the reason that I think the Jacks will continue to be a top team next year as he is a top small school combo guard. Scored 7 of 16 shooting for 18 points plus gave out five assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='2109859' first='William' last='Penkert'] of BOLD (6'3, 2025). Penkert scored 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting. Penkert stepped out to the arc and made a couple threes but most of his production was in the paint area.

Michale Roschen of Goodhue (6'0, 2026). Roschen was the active paint player for Goodhue scoring seven times often in off ball ways. Made 7 of 11 shots for his 16 points and did it actively giving his team a third option.
