As I double back on the players PHI watched this season many guys didn't get a ton of notoriety but can very well play in college next season. Here is a list of the big men hidden gems.

[player_tooltip player_id='1766477' first='Zion' last='Young'] Schaumburg 6'8

A player who is a solid big man with good footwork and touch around the basket. He averaged close to a double-double on the season. Zion is a terrific rebounder and solid rim protector that should translate to the next level.

Zach Ashburn Warren 6'7

Zach had vastly improved from the start of the season until the final game. He's a fundamentally sound post-player that is physical around the rim and likes to initiate contact first when going after rebounds. He's still figuring things out offensively as he tends to score off his teammate's missed attempts.

[player_tooltip player_id='2815549' first='Jovan' last='Thomas'] Shepard 6'9

Thomas is wide-bodied back to the basket player that carves up space in the paint. He was an All-Conference team member averaging in double figures for both points and rebounds. Jovan's productivity increased the more games he played which shows that his best basketball is still ahead of him.

Neveah Hawkins St. Patrick's 6'7

Hawkins is a tough post player who uses length and athleticism to impact the game. He plays hard and angrily, which gives him an edge on the court. Neveah crashes the boards hard and isn't afraid of competition when in the trenches. Hawkins also has good timing when blocking shots. Can become a better offensive weapon in college.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105191' first='Hunter' last='Gawron'] Niles North 6'7

Gawron plays with an endless motor on the court. He is one of the few bigs who can do multiple things on the court. Hunter can play as a face-up big or with his back to the basket. He has good form on his shot and will be a dependable shot-maker in college. He's a thicker player who's mobile and is always battling on the glass for boards or loose balls. He's a sure D2 player who could end up D1 at some point.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385284' first='Keyshawn' last='Barfield'] Lincoln Park 6'8

Barfield is a bigger post player that is a space-eater and rebounds well on both sides of the ball. Keyshawn is very fundamental in the post and will make the occasional jump hook. As a rim protector he will translate to college right away because of his size. A stint in JUCO would help him sharpen up offensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2539984' first='Aaron' last='McClure'] Christ The King 6'6

Aaron has the body of a college tight end but he's an uber athletic forward who rim runs the court well and is always a threat for lobs or two-hand power dunks. McClure is a glass eater and can go a whole game just scoring off missed shots from his teammates. Aaron plays with grit and continues to work on his post-work. Can become a consistent double-double guy in college.

[player_tooltip player_id='2391706' first='Freddy' last='Hassan'] Kaneland 6'7

I like the versatility that Hassan can become at the college level. He's springy and runs the floor well to be a rim-running post player but he's also solid on the perimeter and can easily be used as a stretch forward. Freddy has good length and mobility to switch on to smaller players and still be able to cover them. Hassan has the tools to make it to a low-level D1 after two years in Juco.

[player_tooltip player_id='2400721' first='Nyshawn' last='Turner'] Rich Township 6'6

Turner is fresh off of a state-run where he did all the dirty work for the Raptors. He plays hard and backs down from nobody no matter what size they are. Nyshawn is a muscular post-player who can finish on either side of the rim. He does a good job of snatching boards and going right back up for put-backs. I believe he's what JUCO coaches look for when they need someone to just mix it up with opposing teams.
