The Santa Fe Catholic Hawks made their first championship game appearance since 1964. Riviera Prep was in the hunt for their third straight title. The Hawks put up a heck of a fight, but the Bulldogs came in ready and able to defend their title and that poise helped them close out this game strong. Below are some of the younger players to keep your eyes on as both teams will try to run it back next year.

Fuentes may be one of the top sophomore guards in the state. He has a strong frame and is a three level scorer. Fuentes can also distribute the ball well if needed as a secondary passer. His movement off ball allows him to frequently find spaces on the floor for open looks that he knocks down at a high clip. He is also a player who has only known winning with this Bulldogs program and will bring that culture and mentality moving forward for his remaining years.

Jenkins finished with 13 points on the game and commanded attention throughout. He is another player that is a sophomore and only knows the championship ways the Bulldogs have instilled and that he is expected to continue pushing forward. If he can continue to develop his frame and add more physicality, with the returning guard play and Jenkins, the Bulldogs will be a tough out moving forward.

Mack is the slasher and scorer every team needs and even though he did not stuff the stat sheet during the championship game, he did draw defenders and free up his teammates to operate and score for the Bulldogs. The consummate teammate, Mack is another returning player who is embracing his role on the team and hoping to continue their winning ways.

A freshman starter for the Hawks, Knox chipped in a few baskets and showed some nice basketball IQ throughout the game navigating to the right spots and being ready within the offense to move the ball and get it in the right players hands. He was able to help bring his team to a place they have not been in a few generations and this will certainly be something that will help them in setting the pace for the next season in their quest to hopefully return to the playoffs and break through.

Lackey is a do it all scoring wing who rebounds well for his position. He throws his body around and was the first to the floor on 50/50 plays. Lackey has a pure shooting stroke and a quick release. Another player who can bring that locked in mentality back next year and tell his team what it means and what it takes to get to the mountain top.
