With his blend of athleticism, skills, and high academics, [player_tooltip player_id='1368248' first='Khaled' last='Artharee'] has been on the eyes of many college basketball coaches this season. But as much as the 6-foot-4 senior swingman has appreciated the attention and hopes to make a decision on his future soon, his focus is clear - keeping Gresham going towards their goals. The post-season starts on Wednesday and the Gophers get things going hoping to make some noise at Jesuit.

"I'm excited for what's to come and we're making playoffs, so I think we have a great chance to go to the Chiles Center," Artharee said. "Our record doesn't show how we play, but we're gonna prove everybody wrong. It was a lot of change this season, but we fought through adversity, which we had a lot of, but we're peaking right now. It's awesome, and main goal is to kick right now in the most important time."

Artharee has been a huge part of that success. As the team's top senior, he's taken on the task of being a leader as opposed to being more of a supporting cast member on past teams. New head coach Cliff White has also asked him to do more of the dirty work of taking on tasks down low, utilizing his length and athleticism to help out on the boards and on the defensive end.

"I'm definitely playing a different role this year, trying to play a little bit bigger, guard some bigger guys," Artharee said. "But in the end, it's just about getting the win."

As mentioned, college coaches have been recruiting Artharee heavily - in particular, several schools from the D-III Northwest Conference as well as Cal Lutheran. The senior has been taking things all in but doesn't plan on making any moves until after the season concludes.

"I'm talking to some guys for where I wanna go next year," Artharee said. "Definitely cost is the top thing, but just a place where I can feel like I've been in, where I have some good culture, where I can see myself. I'm focused on playoffs right now, and then after I'm gonna make a decision."

Artharee and the Gophers hope to pull off the upset at Jesuit on Wednesday night in the opening round of the 6A playoffs. He currently ranks as the #31 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2025 rankings.
