D4 Title Game: Aquinas take control early vs. Bonduel

Aquinas had little trouble getting the lead, and once the Blugolds played from in front, they had complete control of Saturday's WIAA Division 4 title game with Bonduel at the Kohl Center in Madison.

When Trey Bahr Trey Bahr 6'1" | SF Aquinas | 2025 State WI and Finley Strom Finley Strom 6'4" | PG/SG Aquinas | 2026 State WI buried consecutive triples for Aquinas to give the Blugolds a 16-7 lead over Bonduel with 12:33 left in the first half, the issue was basically settled.

Bonduel competed with intensity and most definitely attempted to get back into the game, but Aquinas simply shot it too well, defended too well, shared the ball too well and rebounded too well for Bonduel to make any serious push. Aquinas' 74-45 victory was as convincing as they come and helped the Blugolds cap a memorable season that included a share of the Mississippi Valley Conference title with Holmen.

Trey Bahr Trey Bahr 6'1" | SF Aquinas | 2025 State WI and Logan Becker Logan Becker 6'3" | CG Aquinas | 2026 State WI made nice moves to the hoop and scored over the final minute of the first half as Aquinas took a 45-27 lead into intermission.

Aquinas then rattled off the first 10 points of the second half for a 55-27 advantage as Vincent Bahr hit a couple of three-point shots to fuel the surge. The lead never went under 21 points the rest of the way.

Aquinas shot 46 percent from three on 11-of-24 and the Blugolds went 31-of-53 overall for 59 percent. Bonduel, on the other hand, shot 32 percent for the game and 25 percent from three-point range.

Three Aquinas players scored in double figures with Trey Bahr Trey Bahr 6'1" | SF Aquinas | 2025 State WI leading the way with 20. Logan Becker Logan Becker 6'3" | CG Aquinas | 2026 State WI added 16 and sophomore Calvin Bahr Calvin Bahr 6'4" | SG Aquinas | 2027 State WI contributed 15. Three others also made big contributions with Brayden Young Brayden Young 6'2" | SG Aquinas | 2025 WI scoring eight points and grabbing eight rebounds, Finley Strom Finley Strom 6'4" | PG/SG Aquinas | 2026 State WI coming off the bench to score seven points and hand out two assists, and Vincent Bahr scoring six points and grabbing five rebounds.

Aquinas, which has won five WIAA state titles to go along with four from its WISAA days, completes its season with a 26-3 record under coach Brad Reinhart.

For Bonduel, which finishes its best season ever at 28-2 under coach Duke Copp, big junior Ryan Westrich Ryan Westrich 6'6" | PF Bonduel | 2026 State WI (6-6) led the way with 11 points and five rebounds. Sophomore wing Carter Moesch Carter Moesch 6'2" | SF/SG Bonduel | 2027 State WI added 11 points and senior guard Race Anvelink Race Anvelink 6'0" | CG Bonduel | 2025 State WI had eight.
