Class of 2027 Prospect Rankings - New Names, Part One

It is a very busy time of year here at Prep Hoops Indiana headquarters. Not only are we providing wall-to-wall coverage of the IHSAA State Tournament, but we are also in the middle of updating all of our prospect rankings. Last week, we released our initial Top 25 prospects in the Class of 2028. Then, on Tuesday, we updated and expanded our Class of 2027 prospect rankings. As always, we will spend the week diving deeper into those rankings highlight some of the stock-risers, new names, and much more. Here are six prospects who made their debut either in our rankings or on our watch list with this update.    We had the opportunity to watch this 6'2" physical guard play when South Dearborn played in the Fishers Holiday Tournament. Christian more than held his own against some of the best teams and players in the state of Indiana. His physicality, strength, and athleticism really stand out on the perimeter and he projects very well as a two-way player. Christian averaged 14.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.     Garrett High School was led by a pair of talented sophomores this season with Coffman being one of them. The 5'10" guard stuff the stat sheet averaging 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.1 assist, and 2.5 steals per game while knocking in 37 three-point shots as well. He is a guard to keep an eye on in the greater Fort Wayne area over the couple of years.     Gray is very quick with the ball in his hands, sees the floor well, and can make quick decisions from a live dribble. Whether he is setting up his teammates or creating a shot for himself, Gray is talented on offensive end of the floor. The 5'11" guard averaged 12.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game for South Dearborn this season.     There is some young talent coming up right now at Riverton Parke High School. Hopkins is the leader of the pack as he averaged an impressive 17.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.3 steals per game as a sophomore. His shooting ability, 59-177 from deep, is what stands out the most.     We had the opportunity to see Ortman play a month or so ago when Greenwood took Plainfield down to the final buzzer. The 6'3" sophomore guard has impressive length on the perimeter and appears to be a fluid athlete. He averaged 10.1 points per game for the Woodmen and connected on 41 three-pointers. Ortman's ability to create his own shot from all levels is what is most projectable about his game.     It was an up-and-down season for Tindley, but this sophomore guard really emerged for them as a piece they will build around in the coming years. Shipp was second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game. He is an aggressive offensive player with some quick-twitch playmaking ability off of the bounce.
