Their first score of the game was a putback from [player_tooltip player_id='1225770' first='Joshua' last='Goodman'] and they went on to put up 10 offensive rebounds for 17 second-chance points in the opening half. [player_tooltip player_id='1848143' first='Jaden' last='Baylor'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1892777' first='Justin' last='Rollinson'] propelled a 9-0 run midway through the first quarter and the Panthers led by three after eight. Goodman showed he was more than just an interior presence, as he knocked down a left-wing three on the first possession of the second quarter to tie the game at 9. The two teams traded buckets for most of the rest of the half, but the highlight play was a behind-the-back dish from [player_tooltip player_id='1951732' first='Terance' last='Hinton'] to Goodman for an and-one. The Vikings ended the first half on a 9-0 run and opened the second half with more offensive rebounds and scoring from Goodman. However, Baylor showed off his range and shooting ability with a pair of deep threes to answer. Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='2418911' first='Jamerion' last='Williams'] also stepped up in his first taste of championship action with a pair of steals, unselfish passing, and inside-out scoring. But, despite a couple of key scores from <strong>Darius Riley</strong> and defensive plays from <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2887660' first='Jaylen' last='Baylor']</strong>, the Panthers still couldn't keep the Vikings out of the paint. [player_tooltip player_id='2207706' first='Tykeem' last='Ross']' size and athleticism and Hinton's speed and vision were both difficult matchups for Abbeville. The final stats reflect this interior dominance for Denmark-Olar, as they out-rebounded Abbeville 39-27 and out-scored them in the paint 42-15. D.O. Head Coach Hercules Davis rode his starting lineup for all 32 minutes, and it paid off in the long run as the Vikings withheld late surges from the Panthers for the first State Championship in school history.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
