AOG Arizona High Academic Camp: Day 1 standouts Pt 1

On March 15, 2025, I had the pleasure of attending the AOG National High Academic Camp Circuit, one of the premier showcases for aspiring high-academic student-athletes. This event serves as a prime stage for players looking to compete at the Division III, Patriot League, and Ivy League levels, bringing together some of the top scholar-athletes in the country. The Phoenix stop of the circuit did not disappoint, as players put their skills on full display, combining basketball IQ, skill, and athleticism. With intense competition and standout performances throughout the day, here are some of the top players who made an impact on Day 1.    He was one of the best shooters on Day 1, if not the best. He was lights out from beyond the arc, knocking down shots with confidence and efficiency while showcasing great lift on his jumper. His shooting kept the defense on its heels, whether in catch-and-shoot situations or pulling up off the dribble. Along with his shooting ability, he displayed a solid handle, allowing him to get downhill multiple times and create additional scoring opportunities.     A complete gamer, he was one of the standout performers on Day 1 of the High Academic Camp. A true three-level scorer with impressive bounce, he showcased his ability to score in multiple ways while maintaining strong composure. His tight handle allowed him to create off the dribble, and he shot the three with confidence. He also played through contact, finishing tough shots inside. His poise stood out—never rushed, never forced—always making the right play and the extra pass to keep the offense flowing.     He displayed a quick first step, allowing him to create space with ease. His catch-and-shoot ability from beyond the arc was impressive, and he showed confidence pulling up in transition from both three and mid-range. Despite tight defense, he knocked down multiple contested shots, proving his ability to score under pressure. On the defensive end, he played strong on-ball defense, moving his feet well and staying in front of ball handlers to disrupt their rhythm.     He knocked down multiple shots from beyond the arc and played with poise throughout the day. He consistently got downhill, mixing in mid-range shots to keep the defense off balance. His court vision stood out as well, making smart passes, including well-timed extension passes up the court to create open looks for his teammates.       He was one of the top performers on Day 1 of camp, bringing relentless energy from start to finish. Every time he touched the ball, he put pressure on the defense, attacking with confidence and winning most of those battles. He had no trouble getting downhill at will, using his quickness and strength to create scoring opportunities. In addition, he showcased a strong three-point shot with extended range, featuring a high-arcing release that made it tough to contest.       His shooting was on full display from beyond the arc, proving to be one of the most consistent shooters of the day. His ability to knock down shots with regularity made him a constant threat from deep. Along with his shooting, he showcased solid ball-handling skills, demonstrating the ability to bring the ball up the floor and make smart decisions in the half-court offense. He was also able to get downhill off the dribble, keeping defenders off balance and creating scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. On the defensive end, his athleticism stood out as he contested shots effectively and used his length and quickness to disrupt plays. With his all-around performance, he was clearly one of the MVPs of Day 1.
