2028s That Stood Out At NGS Rock City Classic

I kicked off my grassroots season relatively close to home with the NGS Rock City Classic powered by Bucketreel. Throughout the weekend the gym was filled with talent from all over the region and here we will take a look at some 2028's who had solid showings.      Not many 2028 forward prospects have the combination of size, physique, and skill possessed by one half of the Donzo twins. He did a good job of playing physically and controlling the glass while playing in both the 2027 and 2028 age groups. Also showed some nice wing skill flashes, including ball handling on the perimeter and in a rip and run situations while even stepping out and hitting a few jump shots.     One of the better guard prospects in attendance this weekend has very solid showings versus both [program_tooltip program_id='2078500' first='Garner' last='Road'] and Team Loaded 3SSB teams. He did some of everything for his team, from attacking the rim with crafty finishes, having a few nice plays above the rim, knocking down a couple of jumpers, and even distributing the ball at a solid rate. The role he played during the high school year looked much different than the one he played for [program_tooltip program_id='2078549' first='Team' last='Wall'] this weekend, if he continues the play from this weekend expect a trend up the 2028 rankings.     Swarm 2028 had a nice run that took them to the championship of the gold bracket finishing 4-1 on the weekend. Not many guards showed the poise or leadership that Tyler did in those outings and it showed in the box score. More of a traditional point guard than a scorer he kept teammates involved in the offense with nifty passes and continuous paint touches but still was able to have his best scoring performance in the championship game versus Team Loaded 3SSB.     Team Loaded was the the eventual champion of the 2028 gold division and had a few players who could have gone on the list but the one I was most impressed with was the man in the middle Alex Wolf. Wolf stands around 6'7 with a nice overall feel and IQ for the game that helps him have an impact without having a ton of plays run for him. His nice frame and a soft touch that extends out to the 3 point line make him a prospect worth tracking.     Not many people in the building knew who Dominic Hall was before this weekend in large part due to the fact that he was hidden on JV at East Duplin High School. Standing somewhere in the realm of 6'6 with broad shoulders and long arms he did a solid job of rebounding and finishing around the rim. He also knocked down a few jump shots and blocked more than a few shots at the rim.     The last prospect on the list is one that I think we will see shoot up the majority of rankings before the end of the summer, [player_tooltip player_id='2857137' first='Aaron' last='Parker'] of [program_tooltip program_id='2078500' first='Garner' last='Road'] 3SSB. When I first saw him two years ago he was a six foot combo guard in the 7th grade, fast forward til today and he stands around 6'7 but kept all the guard skills we saw then. For his current squad, he plays more of a combo forward role due to his height, athleticism, and rebounding prowess, but he can fill it up from all three levels. One to track in the coming years.
