We were at Half Hollow Hills East to watch the quarterfinal game between Hills East vs Walt Whitman. Hills was 12-0 in league and 17-3 overall in league AAA 3. Whitman was 7-5 in league AAA1 and 14-7 overall. Hills combines their dogging you style defense guarding all 94 feet together with their fast paced offense with the ability to hurt you inside or out to get a 82-48 win.

The Suffolk AAA player of the year showed the packed gym that this was well deserved. He is an extremely smooth, with the ball PG. Had 2 of his 5 steals big steals in the first half using his great defensive instincts. Lightning quick in transition. Can score from all three levels. Understands the importance of body control and using his length to create space to score off the bounce. Has an offer from D2 Queens College but is deserving of a lot more D2 offers. Many D3's looking at him would be a steal at the level.

Jordan on this night was a force in the middle blocking or altering shots and commanding the boards. Showed his defensive versatility to guard the perimeter staying with a Whitman guard who tried to dribble him into submission before he got his step back jumper denied by Jordan's impressive length and jumping ability. He scored inside easily and even snagged a rebound dribbled the length of the floor and nailed a 15 foot pull up jumper.

Skyler showed his scorers mentality. starting off 0-5 from three with shots all going in and coming out, he passed up on his his next 2 possessions and drove the ball to the rim , scoring, getting the defenders in the air with shot fakes. As the old adage goes if you're a scorer, see the ball go through the hoop anyway you can and your whole game changes. That is what happened with Skyler being on fire in the second half showing his ability to score the ball in multiple ways. A quick release and even quicker off the bounce. He helped turn the 12 point half time lead to a 30 point cushion in the third quarter. Long and lanky with tremendous leaping ability he is able to snag rebounds and lead the break. Has the potential to give Hills next season another POY candidate.

Quick strong athletic wing. But Jack David did everything he could in the first quarter to keep this game close. A tough strong hard nosed guard was very aggressive getting to the rim. On 2 occasions he was the smallest player in the paint and once came away with a rebound and the other time he kept the ball alive to gain his team another possession. Scored with a nice tear drop in the lane and later on a euro step in transition.
