Expert Analysis

This was my first time seeing Varlack play and I was super impressed with his end-to-end speed. He’s so athletic and fast moving up and down the floor, and he has a good enough handle to keep his eyes up while doing it. He showed some really excellent driving ability and had some nice finishes amongst the trees in the paint, but he’s also able to find open teammates for easy spray outs once he touches the lane. Most impressive, though, was his on-ball defense; he gave opposing guards hell and probably had 5 or 6 steals in the game I watched. Varlack is transferring to Knox School next year and will likely receive some scholarship looks.

Really like how Varlack touched the game with his versatility. He didn’t have a major scoring day but had his fingerprints all over his Crown squads victory. He is a jitterbug with an electric first step. He does a great job anticipating when to jump passing lanes to turn defense to offense. He also made others better frequently with his vision of the floor. He needs to be a priority for scholarship coaches.

Brandon is as steady and a heady as they come. Can cross you over, use a hesitation dribble and then blow by you. On this night he was able to lead the offense drawing defenders and kicking to open teammates. He is a stat stuffer from the point guard position.

The Suffolk AAA player of the year showed the packed gym that this was well deserved. He is an extremely smooth, with the ball PG. Had 2 of his 5 steals big steals in the first half using his great defensive instincts. Lightning quick in transition. Can score from all three levels. Understands the importance of body control and using his length to create space to score off the bounce. Has an offer from D2 Queens College but is deserving of a lot more D2 offers. Many D3’s looking at him would be a steal at the level.
