LONG BEACH — The 13th installment of the Pangos Junior All-American Camp brought together some of the top local, regional and national talent in the classes of 2029, 2030 and 2031. Among the 100's of players in the McBride high school gym stood out a talented crop of guards in the 2029 class. Below are some notes on guards to keep an eye on as they enter high school next season.

Brendan Fragela | 2029 | Miami (FL)

Fragela took over the Best of the Best game with an impressive second half shooting display from three-point and mid-range levels. The 5-foot-11 off-guard showed his fundamental and repeatable shooting mechanics which resulted in a quick and easy release. Fragela's basketball IQ in being shot ready, combined with his quick release, made him a prospect who didn't need much time or space to get his shot off.

Darrellreon "Reece" Morris | 2029 | Chino (CA)

Morris was one of the more productive players on both ends of the floor throughout the event and a lot of that had to do with the energy and effort he played with. The 6-foot combo guard showed toughness and physicality as an on-ball defender and the same traits allowed him to get to the rim and score through contact in the painted area.

Deshawn Deyampert, Jr. | 2029 | Anaheim (CA)

Deyampert was one of the better three-point shooters we saw on the weekend. The long, wiry 6-foot-2 guard flashed deep shooting range off the catch and off the bounce. He has fluid and balanced shooting mechanics, a repeatable release, and the ability to create space and get his shot off quickly when pressured.

DJ [player_tooltip player_id='2382176' first='Hunter' last=''] | 2029 | Las Vegas (NV)

[player_tooltip player_id='2382176' first='Hunter' last=''] possesses dynamic speed in open court and half-court situations and uses it to get paint touches where he collapses the defense and kicks to teammates or gets to the rim and scores with savvy for himself. [player_tooltip player_id='2382176' first='Hunter' last=''] carries himself with a ton of confidence on the court which resulted in him being an impact two-way prospect in the best of the best game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2767946' first='Isaiah' last='Wright'] | 2029 | Katy (TX)

Wright earned the well-deserved Most Outstanding Player of the camp because of his two-way impact. Offensively, the physical 6-foot-2 off-guard used his size, strength and ball skills to get to the rim off the bounce and finish through contact. What stood out most about Wright on that end was his willingness to make plays for teammates as he had his vision and passing dialed in throughout the event. On the defensive end, Wright guarded multiple positions and crashed the boards.

Kiefer Johnson | 2029 | San Diego (CA)

Johnson stood out with his ability to get to the rim in transition and in isolation half-court situations. We remember watching Johnson back in September at the Creme of the County and he is much-improved in the months since. The 5-foot-11 combo guard uses his explosiveness to get a step on defenders and his strength to absorb bumps, stay on balance and get to the rim where he finished craftily at the basket.

Myles Mobley | 2029 | Chatsworth (CA)

The son of longtime NBA standout Cuttino Mobley established himself as one of the best shooters/scorers in this camp. The 6-foot-1 guard has advanced feel for creating - and making - shots off the dribble. His tight ball-handling and shiftiness off the bounce allows him to create space from defenders where his fluid and quick shooting mechanics take over for him to get his shot off in a hurry.

[player_tooltip player_id='2767780' first='Phillip' last='Reed'], Jr. | 2029 | Los Angeles (CA)

Reed is a polished scoring guard whose combination of size, athleticism and skill resulted in the game looking easy for him throughout the event. The 6-foot-1 combo guard thrived in transition where got to the rim himself or advanced the ball and made a play for a teammate. Reed also showed the feel and ball skills to create for himself and teammates in isolation with the pull-up jumper being his best perimeter offensive trait.

[player_tooltip player_id='2767806' first='Quali' last='Giran'] | 2029 | Carson (CA)

Of all the guards we watched, Giran might've had the best true feel for the game. The 6-footer flashed his true combo guard skill-set with high IQ decision-making and precision passing to go along with a versatile scoring package. Giran's basketball acumen on when to let the game come to him and when to attack proved to be well-beyond his years. Perhaps the most impressive part of Giran's game were his natural instincts and understanding of positioning as a defender.
