Open Playoffs: Standout Performers from Hamilton vs. Notre Dame

On February 21st, I watched as #22 Hamilton took on #6 Notre Dame in the second round of the Open Division playoffs. From the opening tip, both teams were locked in, setting the tone for a battle that would go down to the wire. It was a back-and-forth fight, and in the end, Notre Dame emerged victorious with a 55-53 win, punching their ticket to the Elite 8. They'll now face Millennium on Friday, February 28, with a spot in the Final Four on the line.   Here were the standouts:    Throughout the game, his explosive first step consistently put pressure on the defense, forcing them to react immediately. His quick acceleration allowed him to attack the basket in transition, constantly challenging defenders and keeping the opposing team off balance. Additionally, his ability to make split-second decisions—whether driving aggressively, pulling up for a jumper, or finding an open teammate—highlighted his basketball IQ and versatility on the court. His pace not only created scoring opportunities but also disrupted the rhythm of the defense, forcing adjustments at every turn. He was also able to finish with his inside hand efficiently when going downhill     Throughout the game, he conducted the offense at an elite level, consistently finding teammates for open shots. Off the dribble, he showcased his ability to attack the basket with speed, getting downhill quickly and putting constant pressure on the defense. His poise and decision-making kept the opposing team off balance and created numerous scoring opportunities for his side.     He was exceptional off the dribble, consistently getting downhill and creating scoring opportunities. His mid-range pull-up jump shot was on display throughout the game, as he elevated with ease on every attempt. He finished through contact in the paint and even soared above the rim for a dunk during a powerful drive. Along with his scoring ability, he demonstrated excellent ball handling and impressive rebounding for a guard. Defensively, he was a constant threat, applying pressure on ball handlers and disrupting the opposing offense.     He showcased exceptional range from beyond the arc, opening the game with two big three-pointers from the volleyball line to give his team an early lead. Throughout the game, he maintained his shooting touch, finishing with six three-pointers. Whenever his team needed a big shot, he was ready to deliver, proving to be a reliable scoring threat from downtown.     He was unstoppable throughout the game, playing with strength and physicality that allowed him to dominate inside. Whether it was finishing with a soft touch around the basket or elevating above the rim for dunks, he could get anything he wanted in the paint. His rebounding was also a key factor, as he consistently grabbed boards and controlled the glass.
