On Wednesday, February 12th I watched the match-up of #1 in 6A Perry hosting #25 ranked in 6A Chandler.

Perry won it convincingly 73-27.

Perry is going for that rare 4-PEAT led by McDonald's All-American [player_tooltip player_id='1129193' first='Koa' last='Peat'] and are the odds on favorites to win the OPEN again.

Chandler is trying to sneak into the 6A playoffs and honestly play anyone other than their region opponents. They are actually 7-3 outside the region but 0-8 in the region. So they could be a 6A playoff spoiler team. The future is still bright as they only lose a couple seniors from their core talent plus will add two very good sophomores who had to sit on varsity via the transfer rule.

Here were the standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='1129193' first='Koa' last='Peat'] Perry

Arguably the top player in the country who has not signed yet is Koa. He is a rare player that doesn't need to score the most points in a game to truly affect the outcome. He has elite hands to rebound with any player in America. He also is very cerebral to find teammates up the court in stride for the dime. He blocks shots at a high level and dunks the ball effortlessly. He scored 12 points with 10+ rebounds 5+ assists and 4 blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2281701' first='Bruce' last='Branch III'] Perry

One of the top sophomores in the state showed off his full repertoire in this game. He scored with dunks off the glass, step back jumpers from mid-range and catch threes with high elevation off the ground. He uses his massive wingspan to collect steals and rebound in his area. He is also a very good passer. He scored 23 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='996172' first='D'Andre' last='Harrison'] Perry

The Missouri-Kansas City commit is as steady as they come. He will score from all levels with threes off the catch, mid-range jumpers and quick rip thrus to the basket. He also had a dunk fest with maybe 4-5 in the game. His toughness comes out each game and will rebound and block shots. He scored 24 points with 10+ rebounds and 2 blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1150848' first='Nolan' last='Brown'] Perry

One of the top on-ball defenders in the state pestered his opponents all night long. He picks the pockets of his opponents in bunches and will facilitate to the big-3. He will handle the lead guard role and all the ball pressure plus score it with threes off the catch with range and speed dribble drives. He scored 5 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1588005' first='Trey' last='Mckinney'] Perry

A long forward comes in off the bench and affects the game with his size and length. He is fluid to handle the ball well on the perimeter and will defend from inside and out. He scores it around the basket or earns it on the free throw line.

[player_tooltip player_id='2628083' first='Jaden' last='Perez'] Chandler

A quick on quick point guard who can score. He handles the ball pressure well and takes pressure off of Mercado. He has incredible speed with the ball to burst past his opponents to get to the basket to score.

[player_tooltip player_id='1950104' first='Jonathan' last='Mercado'] Chandler

The lone double figure scorer for the Wolves at 10 was JT. He is very crafty, tough, strong and skilled. The lefty can hit the three off the catch or pull. He can create the necessary separation with his tighter handle to get free from the defense. He will also burst into the lane to score or get fouled with his stocky frame. He sees the court well and is a gamer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1445948' first='Brandon' last='Stapleton'] Chandler

A long combo guard or point forward type makes his presence on defense and offense. He uses his size and length to play inside and out. He moves his feet well to lock up guards but will rebound inside plus make plays for his teammates. He takes long strides to the basket to score and him, Perez and Mercado will be tough next year again.

[player_tooltip player_id='2552733' first='Donovan' last='Palmer'] Chandler

The big freshmen provides the team with some much needed real size to hang with the top 6A teams. He is a defensive player by nature to rebound and alter or block shots but he has budding skill. He just started facing up to the three point line and looks to still be growing.

[player_tooltip player_id='2423942' first='Apollo' last='Jennings'] Chandler

A rugged power forward is a newcomer for me. He gets the start up front and throws his weight around in the paint and earns trips to the free throw line or will score around the basket. He walls up well and will rebound in his area.

[player_tooltip player_id='1633056' first='Xavier' last='Villa-Antone'] Chandler

A highly skilled guard/wing comes off the bench and is always in shot ready mode. He has a super quick trigger and will hit the three plus from mid-range. He has a sneaky burst and an IQ to get a step on a defender to score. He provides the Wolves some needed depth at the 2/3 spot.
