Now that the Chicago Public School tournaments have all been completed I wanted to highlight some players that have gone overlooked this season and had some breakout games during the games I watched this tourney.

Lederral Goss Perspectives MSA 6'3 2026

Goss is a player who shows great promise as a player. He's an athletic wing that is practically automatic from mid-range. Goss gets good elevation on his shot and is very consistent. Another aspect of his game to appreciate is how hard he attacked the lane and looked to dunk the ball given the space. Lederral is a player to track for next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2734369' first='Justin' last='Oliver'] Curie 5'11 2026

Oliver is a steady guard who emerged during the CPS playoffs. He's a savvy guard who can score from all three levels and is dangerous whenever he gets paint touches. Justin has big game consistency and coach Oliver knew to have the ball in his hands down the stretch of games. As he becomes a household name this summer plan to learn more about Mr. Oliver.

[player_tooltip player_id='1845362' first='Jocahana' last='Pullum'] Morgan Park 6'5 2026

Pullum is a high-energy rim protector who blocks shots as often as he scores points. In the few games I've watched of him, he seems to always be making a play at the rim. On offense, he's a dependable rim rattler in transition and can make the occasional mid-range shot. Jocahana is a vital defensive piece to Morgan Park's state run.

[player_tooltip player_id='1874813' first='Jayden' last='Taylor'] Fenger 5'11 2027

Taylor has placed himself as one of the better scorers in the public league and he's only a sophomore. His game is so fluid and chill, Taylor can beat guys with his handle and change his pace at the snap of a finger. What makes him even more dangerous is his shot is consistent and he's smart enough to get fouled if he's in a bad spot. Jayden has scored 20+ points in most of the Titans games this season. He should be a lock for the all-conference team.

Bryce Haynes Brooks 5'8 2025

Haynes is that dependable guard you need on the team to help guide the others when on the court. He's a smaller point guard who can run an offense and keep everyone calm when things look hectic. In the White Championship he showed how well he can shoot and pass while under pressure. Haynes has a chance to play at the next level for a small college.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323261' first='Pablo' last='Rodriguez'] Little Village 6'8 2026

The skilled big man has had a resurgence since leaving Chi-prep last season. Pablo is an inside out forward who shows promise as a stretch big man who makes shots from three but can also finish around the basket with simple moves. Rodriguez has another year to work on his motor and agility to become a legit college prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323321' first='Jaysen' last='Wesley'] Julian 6'5 2026

Wesley is a forward who has come around as of late. He's making shots from three and has figured out how to score out of ball screen situations. Jaysen is a strong rebounder with good instincts around the rim. He also is a dependable passer in the half-court. It was only a matter of time for Wesley to turn that switch on and become a college prospect.

Devon Shelton Dyett 6'2 2025

Shelton is a pitbull on-ball defender who gains energy and confidence with defensive stops. He's a respectable passer who would be used as a combo guard. Devon is a plus shooter who just needs an arm's length of space to drain threes. He was the Eagles most consistent scorer during their CPS run.

[player_tooltip player_id='2321399' first='Rae'Qwon' last='Rogers'] Bowen 6'2 2025

Rogers is an explosive scoring threat who likes to get out in the open floor and make plays at the basket. He has a good combination of body control and agility with the way he maneuvers around guys protecting the rim. Rae'Qwon can shoot the ball too as he showed in the blue championship game. He elevates high on his mid-range shot and has a smooth release point when he moves out further from the three-point line. Rogers has been a double-digit scorer for the last two seasons and it was no shock that he was the MVP of the Blue Division this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2734383' first='Jacobi' last='Walls'] Hyde Park 6'6 2026

It's not always about scoring and Walls made this list because he brought tremendous energy on defense and was impossible to keep off the glass in the two contests I watched. Jacobi was a vital piece to Hyde Park's run with how well he plugged up the lane on defense. His motor to keep opposing forwards off the glass and limit second-chance points wasn't talked about enough.

[player_tooltip player_id='2724412' first='Lamar' last='Bruce'] Richards Career Academy 5'11 2025

Bruce is an exciting guard who is tough to contain when he gets downhill and is scoring in bunches. He plays with a ton of energy and it becomes infectious to his teammates. They feed off his play. As a guard he has lots of wiggle in his handle and is very crafty on his passes. If Lamar sees a shot go in he becomes even more of a problem as he plays off his confidence. Bruce was one of the truly unknown players in the city who could play in college next season.
