3A: Florence advances to Final-4 vs Coolidge

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Saturday, February 22nd I watched the 3A Elite-8 game with #2 <strong>Florence </strong>hosting #7 <strong>Coolidge</strong>. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Florence was in control most of the game behind the strong play of senior standout [player_tooltip player_id='2786911' first='Logan' last='Stenson'] and won <strong>65-52</strong>. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Florence will take on Pusch Ridge on Friday morning in the Final-4 at Veteran's Memorial. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were the Elite-8 Standouts </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2786911' first='Logan' last='Stenson'] Florence&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The top performer of the game was clearly Logan. He actually handled a lot of the lead guard role and plays at a good pace and can make the pocket pass. He is a two-way player who will block shots at the rim and rebound. He will score with blow-by's going baseline, quick buckets inside with his good handle, athletic drives or dunks on the break and threes with range. He scored 25 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2533435' first='Adrian' last='Taufaasau'] Florence&nbsp;(Pictured) </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A high motored forward rebounds well and runs the floor like a deer. He is a a quick leaper and will take it off the glass and go coast to coast. He will score some tough transition layups with his left and he will comfortably hit the mid-range jumper. He will block shots out of his area and he is a sneaky good passer when he is double teamed. He scored 11 points while filling the stat sheet.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2786909' first='Brody' last='Ramirez'] Florence&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard is a possible future 3 and D type down the road. He has a good looking three point stroke off the catch and will ball fake into a mid-range pull-up. He is very quick laterally for man to man defense to collect steals. He scored 15 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2786912' first='Darren' last='Swain'] Florence</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An undersized point guard with some skill. He has some quickness with the ball and he can thread the needle for assists. He has a nice shooting stroke from the three point line. He scored 6 points.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2552745' first='Jensen' last='Carter Grayson'] Coolidge&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring point guard led the way with 13 points and easily 5+ assists. He will score with blow by's with his right or left hand, mid-range pull-ups, in and out dribble into a pull-up and he has good court vision. He will drive and kick or slip it in to a teammate. He is also quick on the ball defensively to collect steals.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2039508' first='Preston' last='Dees'] Coolidge</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong power forward is undersized but has great hands and advanced post footwork. He will score with his back to the basket and can ball fake and go up with great patience. He will score with offensive rebound put backs as he corrals the ball off the glass with two-hands. He scored a team high 16 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2786906' first='Porter' last='Dees'] Coolidge&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The younger brother is also undersized but highly skilled and comes with some girth. He will step out and shoot the three plus works inside with his strong body to score inside the paint. He uses his frame to score in transition and plays the game smartly. He scored 10 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2161181' first='Corbyn' last='Downs'] Coolidge&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A skilled combo guard who plays on or off the ball. He can make plays for his teammates but prefers to score it. He will score with mid-range pull-ups off the dribble, which seems to be his sweet spot, plus hit the corner three in rhythm. He scored 7 points.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2786904' first='Adarius' last='Miguel'] Coolidge&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An undersized but very skilled scoring guard is really cerebral and crafty. He will throw passes up the court to his teammates and the lefty has a nasty mid-range pull-up. He actually made four from about 15-feet and scored 8 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
