The 2024 season gave the best players in this class a chance to stand out and earn the respect from the eyes on them.

It's safe to say that a lot of these guys have done so.

Here 5 quick notes on the latest installment:

Cobb deserves to be one of the faces at the guard spot

Listen, [player_tooltip player_id='2133810' first='Ty' last='Cobb'] is really, really good. He's been really, really consistent for Upperman. Cobb has solidified his place in this class. He's still No. 3 in the class, ranked second at his position. Cobb is one of the best scorers in this class. He's added a lot to his resume this season. Cobb, along with senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1211987' first='Cade' last='Capps'], was named 3A District 7 Co-MVP. The floor general became the program's first-ever Mr. Basketball finalist. Cobb is already at 1,000 points. This kid isn't done.

Wade belongs in the top 10

Brentwood Academy's [player_tooltip player_id='2133797' first='Bryson' last='Wade'] moved up to No. 7. This season as a full-time starting point guard for a young Eagles team, Wade was impressive and consistent. He earned All-Region honors in Division II-AA Middle Region after averaging 16.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists a game. Wade helped the Eagles get nice wins this season over Lipscomb Academy (twice), Ensworth, The Webb School, and Battle Ground Academy.

Frison stays at the top

Houston's [player_tooltip player_id='2101889' first='Justin' last='Frison'] stays put at No. 1. The 6-0 point guard has shown he's very important to the Mustangs' success and postseason hopes. Frison is coming off a regular season averaging 15.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game for a Houston that finished second (9-3) in 4A District 15 behind the Bartlett Panthers. Despite really good scoring performances from senior [player_tooltip player_id='1672419' first='Kaleb' last='Jeffries'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1532545' first='Keron' last='Jackson'], Frison has shown he's capable of carrying the offensive load. In the Mustangs' first meeting against Bartlett, the 6-0 point guard had a strong offensive performance in the third quarter after the Panthers steamrolled Houston in the first half. The district tournament is about to get underway, and Frison is the key for a Mustangs' deep playoff run. He's the team's best ball handler and decision maker. Frison has to have the basketball in his hands.

Jordan is back

Now, I'm not talking about six-time NBA Champion Michael Jordan announcing his return to the league on March 19, 1995 with a simple two-word fax that read “I'm back.” I'm referring [player_tooltip player_id='2133808' first='Malachi' last='Jordan'], who's back in Tennessee after a short stint at Link Academy. The 6-5 wing is currently No. 6, but a strong spring and summer in AAU could bolt him back up to No. 1, the position he held while he was at Ensworth. Jordan can do a lot of good things. First of all, he's athletic, strong, and scores well around the basket. Jordan rebounds the ball well and alters shots at the rim. He can make shots from the perimeter.

Stocks are going well for Cochran

Brentwood's [player_tooltip player_id='2376260' first='Davis' last='Cochran'] stays put at No. 4 after a productive sophomore season. The 6-7 wing was named First-Team All-District in the competitive 4A District 10. He helped lead the Bruins to an 11-3 record in district, which placed the program second behind Franklin. I wonder how many people bought stock in Cochran. I bought mine before the start of the 2024 season, and it has paid dividends. Cochran can score the basketball from different areas on the court. He finishes well around the rim. Cochran is active on the glass. He sets good ball screens and runs the floor well on the break. Cochran plays with good pace and takes a lot of quality shots. He's a really good No. 1 option for Brentwood.
