Wildcat (Wossman) Showcase

The Wildcat Showcase is a unique event that brought together two state championship teams: Wossman High School and Liberty High School, along with Zachary, currently ranked the #1 school in the state, and Carroll High School, last year's Division II state runner-up. This thrilling match-up featured the defending 4A state champion (Wossman) and the runner-up (Carroll High School) competing against Liberty High School (Division I Select State Champion) and Zachary (ranked #1 in Division I Non-Select). The showcase spanned two nights, highlighting intense competition between teams from the North and South. Here are some of the players that stood out during this showcase.    Watching Robinson over the course of two days was an absolute experience as he stands out as one of the top players in the state. A naturally gifted offensive player, he showcases an impressive array of skills that make him an impactful prospect for the next level. With high energy and relentless competitiveness, Robinson is also an elite defender, poised to take on a leadership role at the college level.   His dynamic play is special, and his infectious energy translates into victories on the court. As a vocal presence, he leads by example while demonstrating exceptional ability as a three-level scorer. Robinson is especially effective at attacking the rim, finishing with either hand in multiple ways. He is undoubtedly a player to watch and should be a highly sought after recruit. Coaches across the state should definitely consider adding him to their rosters.   He currently averages 15.3 PPG, 7 Rebounds, 7.8 Assists and leads the nation in steals at 8.3 per game.     Kristion Brooks is an intriguing playmaker with a dynamic skill set that consistently makes an impact on both ends of the floor. His confidence and love for the game are evident in the way he plays—always active, always engaged, and having fun while competing. A sharpshooter from beyond the arc, Brooks drilled four three-pointers in a standout performance against Wossman, but what truly sets him apart is his infectious energy and competitive spirit.   Brooks is one of the few players in the state capable of excelling at both basketball and football at the next level, showcasing his versatility and athleticism. He has shown notable growth since last season when he was primarily known for his defensive prowess and rim-running abilities. It's clear that Brooks has put in the work to refine his game, and his development is evident in his ability to get to the rim with ease, shoot the three with consistency, and lock down defensively.   As a prospect, Brooks' ability to impact the game in multiple ways makes him a player to watch. As he continues to refine his skills, particularly as a playmaker and scorer, his stock is poised to keep rising.     Ferguson is a well-rounded player and athlete with the physical tools, skill set, and mentality to thrive at the next level. He's one of the few players I've seen who can break down defenders on both ends of the floor, using his size and skills to create opportunities. A capable mid-range shooter and a solid three-point threat, Ferguson's real strength lies in his ability to push the tempo and apply constant pressure on the defense.   With a football player's build, he's a matchup nightmare as a guard—rarely at a size disadvantage. Ferguson's strength allows him to finish through contact, but he also has the agility to shift defenses and maneuver for a variety of finishes around the rim. Whether it's finishing in traffic or attacking in transition, he can elevate for dunks off baseline cuts or in one-on-one situations.   Ferguson's combination of size, skill, and athleticism makes him a lock for the next level, and I expect him to make an immediate impact once he arrives.     Robinson played a pivotal role in one of the weekend's biggest upsets, helping lead Wossman to a victory over Zachary. An energetic and instinctive player, Robinson always seems to be around the ball, making his presence felt on both ends of the court. On defense, he was exceptional, playing the passing lanes and relentlessly pressuring the opposition.   Offensively, Robinson contributed 16 points in the win, showcasing his ability to score when called upon. While he's more than capable of putting points on the board, his natural inclination is to facilitate and create for others, scoring when necessary to keep the defense honest. As an athletic guard with a strong defensive presence and the ability to impact the game in multiple ways, Robinson is a player who brings a lot to the table. A two-sport athlete, Williams is poised to play at the collegiate level, showcasing his talent on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he has the ability to score in bunches whenever he wants, but what stands out is his selflessness. Williams has embraced his role, often sacrificing personal accolades to make the extra pass and set up his teammates.   Defensively, Williams is just as impactful, and he's not afraid of the big moment. In a memorable game, he hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer to lift Carroll to a victory over the nationally ranked Zachary team. Williams is a versatile player—he can score, defend, shoot, and operates with a high basketball IQ. Whatever is needed, he's ready to deliver.   With his all-around game and leadership, Williams will be a key factor in Carroll's state championship run this season. As his play continues to elevate, expect his recruiting to pick up in the coming months.
