Five Class 3A Freshmen Making an Early Impact

He shoots it well from the 3-point line, especially off the catch, and has shown some secondary playmaking ability off the dribble. He's a solid defender with a knack for jumping passing lanes and turning defense into offense. He's averaging 9.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, leading the team in the latter two categories. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>SG [player_tooltip player_id='2523910' first='Jayden' last='Stephens'] (Waverly-Shell Rock)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Stephens has the potential to be one of the top players in the 2028 class with his combination of size, length, athleticism, handles, and vision on the wing. He has helped provide some floor spacing for the Panthers while also showing that he can handle it a little bit and create plays for his teammates. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>PG [player_tooltip player_id='2772340' first='Kylen' last='Vander Schaaf'] (Sergeant Bluff-Luton)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The coach's son is a high IQ guard who does a nice job initiating offense for the Warriors. He can score from all three levels, get his teammates involved, and he isn't afraid to stick his nose in on the glass against bigger bodies. He's averaging 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game on 50% shooting, largely coming off the bench.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
