They are built this year around the trio of [player_tooltip player_id='2458771' first='Jaylen' last='Fenner'], [player_tooltip player_id='1778906' first='Adam' last='Boyd'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1778917' first='Zayson' last='Salanoa']. Fenner is a 2025 LA Tech commit and a great 3 level scorer, can also defend at a high level. [player_tooltip player_id='1778906' first='Adam' last='Boyd'] is a 2026 guard who can get hot in a hurry on offense and can lock up on the perimeter. [player_tooltip player_id='1778917' first='Zayson' last='Salanoa'] is a 2026 hybrid/guard wing who is a sharpshooter and uses his wingspan and reach to crash the boards and cash in on transition opportunities as well as having great off the ball movement. All this doesn't even include the return of star guard [player_tooltip player_id='2558173' first='Jachai' last='Cantave'] from out of state SoCal Academy. Cantave will immediately shift the offense into another gear as having him back full time gives them another floor general and a facilitator who will help teammates get open. They will look for key contributions from [player_tooltip player_id='2555034' first='Cameron' last='Ned'], [player_tooltip player_id='2557328' first='Jesus' last='Valenzuela'], [player_tooltip player_id='2557326' first='Jase' last='Mason'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2558174' first='Jonathan' last='Kekeocha'] as well.

Overall record: 21-11, District record: 9-1

The Cy Creek Cougars have one of the deepest teams that I have been able to watch in person this season. Starters consist of a lethal backcourt featuring touted 2025 prospect KeBari Lewis and 2026 defensive stopper [player_tooltip player_id='2558803' first='Tywan' last='Collins']. 2025 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2557185' first='Jayphon' last='Duncan'] has a high motor getting to the basket and running downcourt, as well as 2026 big man [player_tooltip player_id='2554999' first='Conor' last='Robison'] showcasing his prowess underneath the basket and getting the better of his matchups almost weekly. 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2557186' first='Keilen' last='Fillmore'] has been stepping up big time coming off the bench and his presence is definitely a factor on both ends whenever he touches the court.

Overall record:27-3, District record:12-1

Katy Jordan is running at a high tempo this year with the shifty backcourt of senior 2025 guards [player_tooltip player_id='2028635' first='Elijah' last='Black'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1225695' first='Jaden' last='Holt']. 2027 G Marwane Fadika and 2025 F [player_tooltip player_id='2338930' first='Rayan' last='Fadika'] stay making key contributions throughout the season at a high rate, all while having the majority of the starting lineup as seniors. Black can score the ball at will on offense and Holt is a great playmaker for teammates and can change the pace of the game in a hurry to benefit his team. Marwane has a high IQ with the ball in his hands and is deadly from midrange and under the basket, drawing contact often and cashing in at the charity stripe. Rayan uses his size to dominate the basket and make easy layups/putbacks to keep his team on top. He also is critical when it comes to second chance points for the Warriors as he keeps possessions alive with his height.

Overall record:26-2, District record-13-0

The Sharks are made up of probably the most talented backcourt in Houston, 2025 guards [player_tooltip player_id='1358204' first='Michael' last='Collins'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1358209' first='Bryce' last='Jackson']. Jackson is a UH commit and is a dynamic threat to score the basketball as well as help rebound on the glass and get easy buckets from all over the floor. Collins is deadly with the ball in his hands as he uses speed and shiftiness to beat defenders to the rim and score through contact, getting his team extra opportunities at the foul stripe. 2025 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1513119' first='Aiden' last='Law'] helps chip in on offense as well, showing sharpshooter range from beyond the arc and having high IQ on defense. [player_tooltip player_id='2416678' first='Adin' last='Lewis'], Julian Cullier, and [player_tooltip player_id='2056375' first='Caleb' last='Jordan'] are expected to play important roles as well bringing high energy and keeping up the pace of play.

Playoffs are almost upon us for high school basketball in Texas and this is a crucial time for teams to make a push towards the postseason. Many argue that 6A is probably the most competitive division in the state and therefore produces some great all-around individual talent as well as a good playoff atmosphere. Let's take a look at some teams to keep an eye on for playoff seeding during these last few weeks of district play.
