Elijah was a huge factor for Katy Jordan in their victory over Cypress Creek by a margin of 54-46. Despite not playing big minutes, Black showcased his versatility on both ends of the court playing defense in key moments and using his quickness and peripheral vision to play passing lanes and get steals that led to transition fastbreak points. Elijah can beat the defense from all three levels, including hitting multiple midrange shots to maintain the lead and dishing to teammates in corners and on the three-point line. He had a great summer with Fam Elite 17u and looks to continue his momentum for Jordan into this season.

His offensive wizardry never ceases to amaze me. Black has been one of the most dynamic facilitators in the state for some time now, constantly elevating the play of his teammates as he consistently displays impressive playmaking skills against all levels of competition. This prospect has the rare ability to be a game-changer every time he has the ball in his hands. Black’s composure and court vision is what sets him apart and makes him one of the top point guards in the state. Although he completed his junior season as the Defensive Player of The Year and a 1st Team All-District player, I believe he has so much more in store and could be saving his best season for his last.

Second, he makes plays for his teammates finding pass openings against opposing defense’s with his court vision. Third, he is good defensively on the ball and in passing lanes keeping his hands active on that end of the floor. Elijah should definitely be on the radar as one of the best Texas guards in the 2025 class.

He stood out as an unselfish player and a great lob thrower, putting several alley-oop passes right on point for easy finishes to his teammates on the fastbreak. Black was knocking down his mid-range pull-ups which came off the DHO and his dribble. Hit the open three when he open as well. Used his speed to get away from defenders, rubbing shoulder to shoulder off the DHO. One out of four that average 17.5 points per game
