Dallas Guards Not to Miss

The DFW area is brimming with talent and it's an exciting place to be involved with hooping - whether that's playing, coaching, or even watching. The players below have been exceptional this season and their potential is sky high.    Hudson is a quick and versatile combo guard that consistently improves on his game. You can tell he's dedicated to his craft and he puts in a ton of work behind the scenes from the impressive effort he puts forth on the hardwood. He's a true two-way guard that can make a huge impact on both sides of the floor. His handle is natural and he regularly skates by his defenders with ease. He's got stealthy hands that he uses to create deflections and steals, leading to extra and easy buckets on the other end for his squad. He has a sweet jumper from mid-range and beyond the arc and he's smart with his shot selection, never biting on low-percentage opportunities. He's a gifted passer with excellent court vision, often setting up his teammates with near-guaranteed opportunities. If he gets stuck in a bind, he's calm under pressure and can create his own shot if need be. Torres is a difference-maker and he has the tenacity, coachability, and basketball IQ that college coaches love to see.     Jaxson is a strong, talented guard that can electrify the crowd at any moment with his impressive vertical and dunking ability. He's a certified bucket-getter, with lightning-speed burst and a pretty floater and scoop shot that he likes to regularly use in the lane. He has a beautiful jumper off the dribble and consistently gets by the toughest of defenders for high-percentage opportunities at the rim. He can knock it down nicely from beyond the three-point line and he's an intelligent player with the ability to make good decisions on the fly. He's skilled at finishing through contact and he has the ability to get his entire team and the spectators hyped multiple times throughout his games. I expect Thompson's talent to continue to ascend and more and more eyes to be on him throughout his high school career.     Aiden is a gritty, tough shooting guard that can do a bit of everything for his squad, making his impact felt all over the court. He just began his high school career and the potential he's already showing is exciting. He's effective on the glass, consistently racking up boards on both ends and getting extra opportunities at the rim for his squad. He's got an impressive jumper and he moves well without the ball, regularly getting to his spots for excellent looks at the rim. He's a multi-sport athlete which shows in his stamina on the court - he often appears to be full on energy while some of his defenders are huffing and puffing from exhaustion. He has a fantastic ability to finish through contact and he's good at creating it on his way to the rim, often racking up extra points for his team. I can't wait to see what Valentine does throughout his high school career and there's no doubt that college coaches will take notice.     Braxton is a strong, exciting combo guard with a solid frame and impressive ability to finish through contact. He's constantly in the mix in the lane, mixing it up with his defenders and leaving them frustrated and exhausted. He shows no fear on the hardwood and you can tell he puts in plenty of work on his own time. He's lengthy with a nice wingspan, which he uses to go straight up and block opposing shots at the rim with regularity. He's effective on the glass on both ends and he never takes a play off, consistently hustling back on defense and getting into proper position to be a lockdown defender. His confidence is high and nothing shakes him on the court, he has laser focus and is on a winning mission once he enters the game. I'm incredibly impressed with Braxton's game and it's easy to see why many others are as well.     Jon is a smart, dedicated combo guard that makes a huge difference for his team every game. He has a beautiful spot-up jumper and his defenders have plenty of difficulty making it hard for him because of his quick release. He's intelligent with his shot selection, often passing up good shots for great ones and getting the best opportunities he can for his squad. He has an impressive ability to create steals with his quick hands and is incredibly comfortable finishing on the fast break. He moves fantastically well without the ball and knows just the right spots to get to in order to nearly guarantee another bucket for his team. He's always prepared and ready and you'll never see him taking a play off or hanging his head about anything on the court. I expect Browning to be an impact player that gets better and better each season, turning more and more heads in the process.
