Cummings and Daugherty Best Duo No One Talks About?

There are a lot of great duos in the state of Illinois, but Rockford Christian's senior backcourt of [player_tooltip player_id='1553123' first='Christian' last='Cummings'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2319792' first='Elijah' last='Daugherty'] is one that seems to completely fly under the radar. Playing for a 2A school in Rockford can do that, but trust me this is one of the most fun backcourts in the state! Cummings recently passed the 2,000 point mark for his career and is a pure speed demon with the ball in his hands. Consistently blew past defenders like they were not even trying. So quick off the bounce with his straight line speed and has tremendous body control at the cup finishing as he had 22 points. Also like how well he passed it. For all the talk about him as a scorer he can really dish it too including finding his guy Daughtery for 34 points on the evening. He was lethal from three hitting six of them including banking one in off the wing. Explosive scorer who is nearing the 2,000 point mark in his own right. Plays well in the open floor and has a nose for the ball. Each of these senior guards need to have college eyes on them the second half of the season because they can play at the next level and be impactful scoring combo guards. Also want to note Chase Longley as well for Rockford Christian as the senior wing was excellent getting on the offensive class for put backs along with scoring crafty layups en route to 17 points.

Rockford Lutheran Trio Goes for 20+ Each

Rockford Lutheran put up a ton of points in this one as well. The prospect early on who jumped off the floor to us was 6'2” 2026 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2734406' first='Zach' last='Vanblaricom']. Rangy shot maker poured them in from distance hitting three beyond the arc early in the game with a free and easy stroke. As the game went on he displayed slick handles on drives through traffic finishing well with either hand and shielding the ball at the rim from defenders as he went for 20 points. Late in the game senior Logan Curington kept his team within striking distance as the point guard got in the lane for one tough bucket after another or getting to the line where he notched 23 points. Also 6'1” junior [player_tooltip player_id='2823673' first='Mason' last='Keller'] displayed a nice little mid-range game along with some creativity around the hoop for and-1s as he had 20 points on the night.

Chances of 2A Run for Rockford Christian in March

Now that Rockford Christian is 14-0 on the season what are their chances in March? They have a few things going for them. First is they have about as rock solid of a backcourt as you are going to find in 2A with Cummings and Daugherty. They are two stars that you can count on getting you minimum 40 points every night and most games more. Their offense will definitely carry them as they should be able to put points up on just about anyone. Issue is going to be defensively. They can not play defense like they did in this game and expect to cut down nets. It was easy drives one after another all game long for Rockford Lutheran.
