Class of 2026 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1552428' first='Marshawn' last='Cocroft'] really turned the game around for Kaneland in the second quarter as they trailed 17-15. The quick lead guard really got it going and was the catalyst for them making a big run. He is a shifty lead guard that can win off the dribble and blow past defenders in the open floor. Gets to the rim and foul line with his speed and handles. Can finish with either hand at the cup. Sound passer that makes good reads and despite being a smaller guard is a good defender with his active hands. He had 12 points on the night.

While his younger brother usually gets most of the pub it is definitely worth noting the continued growth we have seen out of 2025 power forward [player_tooltip player_id='2391706' first='Freddy' last='Hassan'] for Kaneland. The 6'7” four man is a very good athlete that plays with a nice combination of power and athleticism around the rim. He had a big dunk off a fake DHO. Multiple put backs for buckets, snatched rebounds in traffic, took it off the dribble from the mid-post area, and looked very comfortable making a pair of mid-range jumpers. Was a factor on the defensive end as well with his switch ability and shot blocking. He had 16 points in three quarters of action. Should be a priority for small colleges. [player_tooltip player_id='2391672' first='Jeffrey' last='Hassan'] is a long and rangy 6'9” five man in the sophomore class that ranks among the top 10 prospects in the 2026 group. The athleticism and fluidity really stands out. Did a nice job on the boards in this game especially with his second jump getting a pair of put backs. Did miss finishing several bunnies, but he cleaned a few of them up. Looked really good running the floor for a score. He had 6 points and 9 rebounds.

What got La-Salle Peru going early was their shot making as they had five threes from four different players in the first quarter. It started with a bomb from Marion Persich who is a 6'3” 2028 prospect that has a lot of buzz on the gridiron as a quarterback. Strong build with good athleticism and a nice stroke from three as he had 6 points. Nick Olivero knocked in a couple threes and a turnaround jumper for 8 points. Erick Satello and Mikey Hartman are also solid shooters who each scored 7 points.
