Week 4 Bonus Coverage: Cheboygan vs Rudyard

<p>As I cruised through the upcoming games in Northern Michigan for the week of the 16th, I wanted to highlight one more, the Cheboygan--Rudyard matchup. Cheboygan has come out of the shoot on a TEAR, starting their season 6-0. They are young, fast, and very physical. They take on the Rudyard Bulldogs tonight and I wanna highlight a few gamers from both teams...paying particular attention to some up-and-comers.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cheboygan</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Cheboygan rolls with a run-and-gun three to four guard set-up. When you do that, you need a really quick and really smart main guy, this is where Gavin fits in. Defense and transition basketball are Cheboygan's strong attributes and the three sophomores on the starting 5 are the backbone of it. Speed and court awareness put Gavin in the right spot at the right time. He's averaging over 12 ppg, but tonight we could see 20 with a double-double.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Landon Gahn (feature image) is right there with Gavin in the speed and agility department. They complement each other well and roll on a "shake and bake" kinda thing on fast breaks. Both are very unselfish and make the right pass for the team and not necessarily themselves. Landon has put a lot of time in on the offseason in the agility department and it shows with how well he plays defense. He's really quick and can cover a lot of court in a little bit of time. He has a great basketball IQ and plays with his head up and sees the entire court. Looking forward to covering this young man over the next three seasons, as well as the rest of the Cheboygan team that is sure to make a lot of waves in the offseason.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Cheboygan runs a pretty efficient 2-3 zone and Nolan Schley is the KEYMASTER. While the mosquito guards are buzzing around the perimeter, he is down low in the trenches making sure nothing gets by him. He does a great job offensively as well, with double-digit scoring performances against Rogers City and Kalkaska. Has strength in his legs, so has a good shot and good form. Can stroke from behind the arc from time to time and likes a 5-7 foot floater.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rudyard</h2>    <p>Cheboygan doesn't stay undefeated without going through a tough Rudyard team. Cheboygan started off their season with a 13-point win over Rudyard, but tonight the Bulldogs will be a much-improved team on their home court.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">At 6'4" and a muscular 230 pounds, not much happens in the paint without Jack Cifelli's name on it. He is a veteran player who has put a decent amount of off-season time into his footwork. Like his post move and use of a long stride to create around the rim. If Jack stays out of foul trouble, he can play very confident defense. Will bear the load of garbage man duties tonight against a quick Cheboygan team. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Jaxon Clark is the floor leader for Coach Suggitt's Bulldogs after the graduation of 2024 Cam Peterson. Jaxon is quick and creates separation to set up a quality shot. I like his calmness in bringing the ball up the floor, will be on display tonight as I'm guessing Cheboygan will set up a trap press. Good percentage from beyond the arc and will need accuracy tonight as Cheboygan recovers the skip well on defense.
