The reigning PJAA Player of the year and the No. 5 ranked prospect in our 2025 rankings is the front runner to repeat as POY in 2024-25. Last season Booker averaged 22 points (43% on 3PA) and 6 rebounds per game. He is an athletic and length scoring wing who creates serious matchup issues for opponents. He is especially effective in the open court, but his half-court should not be underestimated. On half-court possessions Booker can pop jumpers from the baseline to the mid-range and out beyond the arc. He can also score on dives to the cup or via the offensive glass. Booker recently committed to George Mason.

Kabugi is a recent addition to the LCA lineup who is a long shot to win POY, but it would be a mistake not to mention this tremendous prospect here. Kabugi is an attack the rack style guard with a blazing quick first step and circus like handles. Those two assets enable Kabugi to get past the initial defenders and into the lane. Once he is in the paint, Kabugi's explosive hops enable him to dunk on an opponent's head. To be honest, Kabugi rarely settles for a lay-in, even if it means powering through contact for the slam. When his opponent's wall of the lane against his dribble drives, Kabugi will stroke threes. Back in September Kabugi was a standout at the MADE Hoops East event. For the last two years Kabugi has been playing with the NBA Academy Africa squad. Kabugi recently posted a stat line of 8 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists against Atlantic Christian.

Nelson is a poised floor general with a well-rounded skill set. His court vision, patience and unselfish mind set make Nelson a creative distributor. When he is looking to score Nelson can do so at all three levels. Still, the most impressive part of Nelson's scoring game is the extremely efficient way he produces points. There are no wasted dribbles with Nelson, and he never fires off an ill-advised shot. His ability operate off two feet in the paint is unique. Nelson also owns impressive pick-n-roll skills. This speedy guard with elusive dribble moves can pilot Cristo Rey's transition game for scores or assists. Nelson dropped 17 points in Cristo Rey's recent win over Friends Central.

Simpson is a scoring point guard with a ridiculously quick first step and slick handles. Those assets combined with his elite athleticism get Simpson to the rim for lay-ins. Once he is at the cup, Simpson can score through contact or with a creative touch. If an opposing team manages to cut him off, Simpson can slam on the breaks and then hit a mid-range jumper. Simpson's 3-point shot must be respected too. In 2023-24 Simpson averaged 18.4 points per contest and was a 2nd Team All-PJAA selection.
